colonel06 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I see it from the perspective differently.. The guy is a hustler-fighter Dane Fife kind of leader. Senior leadership is the hallmark of any organization. (Z401:). Spike would bring a great skill set and let's say he scores a mere 100 points. He is not going to get the wear and tear as a bench player as he had to take at Mich. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I don't like this move for our personnel nor do I think he wants to compete in our backcourt for minutes but this seems like a Crean type of move. Curious to see what transpires with many of these transfers and grad transfers. Like a second recruiting season. colonel06, IUsafety, HoosierAloha and 2 others 5 Quote
8bucks Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Well our weakness next year would seem to be having a veteran ball handler. RoJo and the rookies may handle things well but if not it would be great to have a veteran we could call off the bench. This year we needed a big in case TB had foul trouble and it was great to have Max, especially late in the year. If we can get a better veteran ball handler then great but if not I would take a long look. Quote

hoosierpap Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 @GoodmanESPN Michigan grad transfer Spike Albrecht told ESPN that he's looking at Purdue, Wichita State, Indiana, Texas A&M, Syracuse, USC & Milwaukee. rebelhoosier848891 1 Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Hmmm. Not a big fan of this move if it occurs---but Crean does love to bring in strong leadership transfers. I know Spike is an Indiana kid and I don't want to see him end up at Purwho---but it seems there are better options out there. If we were going to do this--why not just bring in Eron Gordon for more long-term upside? Happydaze and HoosierTrav 2 Quote

Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 The thing with Max this year fitting in so well was the fact that he wasn't needed to be the sole leader. Yogi had that aspect down for us and post depth was desperate need for us. This isn't the same situation at all. He could very well hardly play at all and that's not a recipe for leadership. Its always been known to be looked up to you have to have talent. I'm not sure after barely being cleared to play basketball again he is in that category and even before the injury he wasn't highly productive. I'd rather see the scholly go elsewhere, but if we have no better options why not? He's only here a yr. I would pass, but I'm not the coach either lol. Quote

Spoke to neighbor that knows the Albrechts and he was told by Spike's father that he (Spike) has heard from every B1G team. HoosierAloha 1 Quote

He could provide great leadership for young guns like Green, Gelon, and CuJo. Also he would only be at IU a year while Gordon would take a scholarship for four. I would rather go for a one year grad transfer to have spots available for the instate studs in '17. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners IUsafety and Hoosierfan2017 2 Quote
