(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

Recommended Posts

Many others did. I know you read twitter and crystal ball. Those same sources predicted Shittu WAY in advance too. Which turned to go just like they said.

For sure but I have also seen those crystal ball sources totally miss on others. I read jesse post on 247 and how confident he was on the message board and in his articles. I took his past predictions into account where he only picked kids to Vanderbilt and how terrible his number was. Looks like he was right this time but at the time it was something to question. I’ve also followed this long enough like you have to know geography plays a huge part in recruiting and they had the advantage, on top of snow’s report that the staff knew when they took the job it would be a uphill battle to beat out duke or Vandy and get in on his recruitment.

People are getting hung up on the fact his family traveled with him. Apparently he made his most recent trip to Bloomington without them.

Lots of possibilities for this, most of which will be discussed here as conspiracy theories at best.

As involved and protective of Romeo as Tim Langford has been, I think we often overlook the impact mom and dad have here, as well as their points of view...

If my child was making the biggest decision of his life so far and I could only accompany him to one visit, it would be to the destination I thought was the wrong choice.

Here is my thought on this, his family had made trips to IU prior, and they had "Work obligations", which I do not doubt, he did not come alone however, he came with his personal trainer, to me that seems at least kind of significant, no? Bringing someone who can get significant information regarding how he will trained and conditioned if he were to attend IU. Bringing the whole family to Vandy is significant, no doubt, however, as Tim Langford has said, they want to visit IU again, and they intend for that to be a full family visit, if that trip happens, I think that is a pretty big deal.

Don't disagree with any of this, but what I'm saying is saying is word got out around town. Not just the crystal ball guys. The local yahoos. Same for Shittu and same for Romeo.

Although granted, they seem far less certain about the Romeo addition than they were about the Garland, Shittu ones.

Those same sources are almost dead set that they're gonna get EJ Montgomery too, so I think it is more that it's a lot of fans. Indiana insiders likely have more "in the know" sources than Vandy guys, just based off of the sheer size of the fanbase and websites they run.

I haven't seen the same guys or number of people on EJ Montgomery. I'll have to look into that one.

I've seen some of the 247 guys say they firmly believe that Vandy is very confident they're in contention with him, when nearly every national guy says he's like 90% sure he's Duke bound. They're not confident like they are with Romeo, but they're confident none the less.

20 new pages and zero new info outside of a Vandy insider getting essentially a guarantee on commitment from a Nashville AAU guy. Par for the course.

I have also heard that the "insider" is Darius Garland's trainer, Jamal Richardson.

If we are looking for positives for IU today, Tim Langford has made it clear that they find a lot of importance in whatever teams ability to develop Romeo, and their plans to do so. While Vandy has likely pitched their ideas on how they'll do so, they have not proven they can do so, however, Kansas obviously knows what they're doing in that sense, and all though Archie has not put any players in the league, assistant Ed Schilling has. He's coached players like Mike Conley, Greg Oden, TJ Leaf, Lonzo Ball and Yogi Ferrell. Tim Langford and his family is well aware of how good Schilling is at what he does. Do not discount the fact that Clif Marshall is on staff as well, and has been a trainer for NFL players in the past, along wit other basketball players. Both outstanding in the sense of Romeo to IU.

Things don’t look good but we need to hear it from the national guys before putting this recruitment to rest.

The National guys have been saying Vandy. It’s just whatever we all want to believe I guess.

Man Bloomington is an amazing place. I can't think of a better environment to spend your college years in. A beautiful and big campus, great facilities, good nightlife, etc. I couldnt imagine a recruit visiting and thinking "eh, living here would suck".

Times 100!

It ain't no West Lafayette

Garland word spread a little different than others. It was through his High school friends and Vandy football commits.

Meyer probably didn't want to rely on those sources. Haha

The week of two days before his announcement was when his friends that are going to Vandy spoiled it.
