In my last Q&A with Damezi after Hoosier Hysteria he said he was talking with Romeo but said he was gonna let Romeo make his own decision. He also said that IU has the talent and coach to sell itself. It sounds like most IU people involved w him are playing the cool guy approach and know we will be fine with or without him. Same thing some of us should consider. IUsafety, Ajwhitis, woodenshoemanHoosierfan and 1 other 4 Quote
Ajwhitis Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Does anyone have access to the Rabjohns article about Romeo's recruitment and would they be willing to share any info that stands out to them? Quote
HoosierAloha Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 I get the feeling the anchors are being lifted and the ship is prepping to sail. I've heard insiders have felt good about this but starting to feel they're optimistically guessing. To me it all comes down to why he is waiting? Is he waiting to see how IU does this season or is he not committing so there's still hype from high school IU fans? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersSimple answer would be he is waiting because that has been the plan the whole time according to every interview I had seen with him or his dad the last couple months. Some people felt since he has taken all his officials early and chatter after HH that was changing but other people said no chance he would sign early because the families plan was to wait. I would say they are dealing with this recruitment on their terms. Bailey7878 Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Yeah, it is over. Darius and Shittu pushed him to Vanderbilt. What a joke.I simply don't care anymore. Just get it over with then if your going to vandy and we can set our sites on a good grad transfer in the spring hopefully.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Iugradman 1 Quote

Popular Post reconmkd Posted November 27, 2017 Popular Post Posted November 27, 2017 I'm not worried about all the fuss about RL playing with Shittu and Garland. RL has offers from plenty of teams with multiple 5* players and they didn't make his final 3. I really do not think that having multiple 5* on the roster is part of RL decision making process. Watching him play, it looks like he enjoys being the center piece of a team. Does that mean he is ours, who knows, maybe not even him or the family at this point. The recruiting news is slowing down, not much to talk about, instead of just reporting the news, many are reading the tea leaves to draw out some drama to spike the news feeds. We were told several months ago that RL would be a spring commit and now everyone is losing their cool that the tea leaves seem to point to Vandy. As others have mentioned, I believe that come January to March news will become more than circumstantial and will have more than just guesses. This thread is starting to resemble the Darius thread with all of the tea leaf expert opinions saying something that wasn't even close to how that turned out. Lets not get all worked up like that again. Patience is the key, and unless RL verbals on twitter or something, I would take everything with a grain of salt. For now enjoy some IU basketball! I know I am enjoying it, especially after being at the Hall on Friday for my dads birthday. I really enjoyed watching a coach that knows what he is doing and its about damn time that we have one! mamasa, taco corp, thebigweave and 10 others 13 Quote

HoosierMatty Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 To me going to Vanderbilt makes zero sense if you are one and done. 3 five star guys who are all freshman can't carry you to a national championship. I don't know much about the rest of their class but it seems unlikely. The whole thing seems fishy to me. But fact Romeo has continuously gone out of his way both to bring up Vanderbilt and to bring them into his recruitment seems like he favors them over IU. They'll be competitive with three guys of that caliber, but IMO they won't be a title contender or a real national threat. Things could change based on other additions, etc., but if you just add those 3 guys to their existing roster (minus seniors leaving), they're going to struggle. I think they'll be closer to LSU the Ben Simmons year (though not quite as bad) than anything Duke or UK has done with their one and done factories. The other aspect is that it's a huge challenge to have that much young talent on one team. Coach K and Cal have tons of experience with managing these ego's, etc. Their systems and programs are set-up to manage the one and dones and what comes with that, and even with them their best teams were the ones that had some senior leadership and veterans, which Vandy won't have. If they land all three, Drew is going to have his hands full managing this, and at a school that really isn't set-up for it or has any experience with this type of situation. They could be really good, but I think it could also be just as likely that it goes the other way. I'm sure the response will be that Archie doesn't have experience with this either. But, it's a lot different having one of those guys as opposed to three, and while Archie doesn't, IU does. IU as a program/school has had guys of this caliber and there is support staff around that has done this before. HinnyHoosier and thebigweave 2 Quote
Popular Post Demo Posted November 27, 2017 Popular Post Posted November 27, 2017 Not sure this really offers much insight, but it was an interesting conversation. So fwiw: Ran into a semi-friend who has been part of the Bradley Beal Elite/St Louis Hawks coaching program for years. Talked some about Garland. He thinks Garland will always be a bit of a tease because, while gifted, he's not a tough or super competitive kid Said the teams that knocked him on his @$$ the first couple of times he went to the rim didn't have to worry about doing it again because he'd stop coming. Anyway, I mentioned the situation with Shittu and RL and that there is chatter in IU circles that Garland is pulling this together by force of personality. Terry literally laughed out loud. His almost exact words, "Damn, that's funny. Gonna have to tell some people that one." Said that he's a good kid, but very much one of the boys. Oh, and the BBE coaches REALLY don't like Winston. 2 things: 1) Really glad we got Phinisee, who strikes me as both a tough kid and a leader. 2) I'm not going to lose one moment's sleep over whether we get 6 months of Langford. taco corp, Stuhoo, thebigweave and 7 others 9 1 Quote

This take jives well with Cole Anthony lighting him up in their EYBL matchup. The BBE coaches not liking Winston jives well with how Winston dragged Rabjohns along too. The only questuon is what does drew do after the big three bolt for the nba? Leave for another school before vandy gets hit with multi year sanctions? Usually how it works.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Iugradman, BGleas and ALASKA HOOSIER 3 Quote
