He's also an alpha dog and got in the ear of Shittu and Romeo long ago. Drew got lucky this year and it remains to be seen if he can keep this streak up but barring a miracle Vandy is hitting the trifecta. One thing you seem to always leave out....Shittu to Zona was a done deal just a few months ago. Even after lots thought he would end up at UNC. Vandy has been favored for a bit but it's not like it has always been a foregone conclusion he ended up at Vandy. Plenty of schools have 5 stars he could've played with. I do get the doing something different thing though that is the only thing that really makes even the slightest since for any 5 star that isn't a hometown kid Vandy has no history that adds up all the dots. If they got even those 2 fair and square Bryce Drew deserves coach of the recruiting trail right now if that was a real reward lol. Quote
Bailey7878 Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 I honestly feel we might be underdogs in this race. Too many rumors coming true at Vandy. Awfully suspicious. Sent from my iPad using BtownBannersWe are the underdog and now probably a heavy underdog. It's probably time to start focusing and talking about the 2019 guys. As i said drew is a recruiting machine.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote
HooHooHoo22 Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 I'm starting to care, less and less. Excited about the guys that we didn't have to beg, arm twist, and bend over backwards for. Hoosier Guy Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 I still don’t see him picking Vanderbilt over IU. Not the top state of Indiana player Quote

Now Shittu is a different story. They very well may have got him fair and square but man does it seem weird. With all the FBI stuff going on for their fans sake I hope they are doing it the right way. Bryce doesn't give off the same vibe that big bro does though. This is literally just lightning in a bottle for Vandy and the worst possible luck for Indiana. Drew had a relationship with Garland since the 3rd grade and ends up taking a job in his backyard. Garland happens to be a extremely talented and charismatic player that other great players want to play next to. Drew wasn't recruiting Romeo Langford until the Langford family ASKED him to get involved..... the Vandy insider Chris Smith is willing to stake his reputation on the inside info he's receiving, that Romeo's commitment is a done deal and eminent. So far he's 2 for 2. Others are crystal balling based off of the info he's providing them with. I personally believe him. ZERO chance Romeo's family allows him to play his last season in front of IU faithful as a Vandy recruit..... He has 1 foot in the door at Vanderbilt. It's not hard to see that based off of the information that circulating. There isn't any funny business going on IMO. Personally that claim bothers me, quite a bit. I get tired of hearing how Indiana is clearly the greatest option for every kid, yet when we miss on them, the only logical explanation is "they cheatin!" Let's lose with some class for once. I'm personally going to be a fan of the kid's regardless of where he plays his 1 year of college ball. At the end of the day he's still an Indiana high school legend who will go onto much bigger and better things regardless of his college choice. Some perspective: We aren't even in the galaxy of having this discussion right now without Archie and the current staff. We are in great hands. Personally, his decision won't affect my level of excitement as to the direction this program is going. I hope others can let the ether settle a tad and take the same approach. thebigweave and IUBBFan1970 2 Quote

I know, I know, a long way to go to be mentioned with Coach K, but Coach K had to start somewhere too. (I am grinning as I type so I don't think so, but ....) #StayHomeRoMeO Quote

Thanks to the fbi arizona was not allowed to pay shittu and now vandy will get all three. Archie may eventually get in state five stars but not yet. Another one out the door to another state. I am starting to think iu was never really that serious of an option for Romeo. I can't see a player of his caliber caring that much about those things and then turning down IU for Vanderbilt. Kansas? Maybe. But not Vanderbilt. He clearly cares about the pageantry of being one of the best ever from Indiana. He can still do both and pick another school. I have laughed at the vandy insiders before but they have been 100%accurate so far and the iu insiders not so much. So if they say Romeo to vandy is a done deal I expect it is. He will not want to be stalked by iu fans, all season long so as I stated before expect his vandy verbal shortly. Hopefully we can find a stud grad transfer in the spring Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote
bigrod Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 I still think we have a good shot at Romeo. We all need to remember that when CAM started, everyone said it was a long shot at best due to relationships having already been built. He has made up tremendous ground in a short time. I get Garland to Vanderbilt. I certainly think there are some fishy things about Shittu's recruitment and limited interest from many schools. Who knows if anything comes out of that, but maybe the Garlands talked him into it. However, there is a long time before he can officially sign, so nothing would surprise me. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

pumpfake Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 I don't know if Romeo will go to Vandy or not. I haven't heard any specifics on illegal recruiting at Vandy. On the other hand, the circumstances of them suddenly attracting multiple top-10 players out of the blue is highly unusual and reason for suspicion IMO. Hoosierfan2017 1 Quote

The same thing happened with the coaching search. People were so sure BD was coming. People were so sure DG was committing. What happened people went off the cliff. I learned a long time never be so sure about anything.Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Iugradman, IUBBFan1970 and MikeRoberts 3 Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Exactly. And the Chris Smith stuff is hilarious. He made the same claim with Aaron Thompson yet didn't happen. His CB picks aren't the greatest either with Vandy being the pick in almost everyone. Romeo may go to Vandy, but it isn't a done deal. The family isn't worried about fans in Indiana one bit. Romeo is a kid that can handle pressure and negativity. If he wanted to commit to Vandy he would/will whenever he is ready not just because he has HS games to be played in state will he wait lol. I took a lot of crap for saying Romeo and Garland would play together cause they want to months ago but now I'm not as sure. Romeo will do what's best for Romeo and I will say this if Vandy insiders pull the he is going to Vandy weeks before it will not sit well with the Langford family and will only help KU and IU so hopefully Chris Smith keeps saying these things.
