Indiana vs Iowa Post Game Thread

By the way...Harrison Niego...WOW!

It looked like Mike Gesell was being guarded by his Cream and Crimson clone.

Only...our Mike Gesell is a freshman walkon, and he was better than their Mike Gesell!

Really believe Niego's stretch was what turned the game.Weve got a good one in that kid.

Loved this game! Great team win. The only thing bothering me, (keeping me up nights really) is Troy Williams. He is killing this team with his bone headed plays. Yes, he made some big shots down the stretch but, would those have been as important if he had not blown our lead nearly on his own? Don't even mention the fact that many of his (big shots) are pure, out of control, unadulterated luck. I know many will disagree due to him lucking out now and again but, I just feel he is hurting this team badly. I love his potential but I often wish he played for someone else.

Yes, we would have needed those big shots later. Who do you put in who can't be beat and never turns it over? I think you're either far overestimating our bench or far underestimating Iowa.

I mean, say what you will about Troy, but for once Crean was willing to pull him out when he was having trouble and when he came back in each time he had completely turned it around. If anything, this game shows how much better we would be if Troy were coached in a way to enhance his strengths rather than just trying to play through his weaknesses.

First of all, I really blew it in Prediction League and I couldn't be happier.  Secondly, the team didn't crumble when Iowa got the lead.  They held it together, regrouped and made their charge at the right moment.  Thirdly, as so many posters have noted, the MVP of last night's game was The Bench!!

  • 33% of our total points and the 28 - 0 margin over the Iowa bench.
  • 23% of our total rebounds.
  • 35% of our assists.
  • 2 of our 3 blocks
  • 3 of our 6 steals
  • 1 TO

Pretty impressive performance.

Just to put the numbers in perspective though, since I do totally agree our bench stepped up and kicked some tailfeathers...

We're a much deeper team than Iowa. Our starters played 69% of the game while theirs played 84.5% of the game. So, their bench should have been around 15% of their stats and ours outperformed the starters when they were over 31% of a stat.

If you compare usage ratethen it's even more staggering, just Max and Z3 combine for 34%, yet we could not have won without Morgan and Niego's contributions and they played too few minutes to even get a rating.

Baer and Uhl combined for 14%

1. Usage rate -  The basic idea is to look at a player's combination of field goal attempts, free throw attempts and turnovers, and find the percentage of the team totals he uses in those same categories

Great game by the Hoosiers. The refs sucked. Happy for the win.

I've seen a few ppl mention seeding in the dance. Who cares about seeding. Win the Big Ten conference and the seeding will take care of itself. Let's not just settle to be happy with a decent seed. Let's actually have a team that wins something, be it the conference or conference tournament. Go Hoosiers!

Funny how a fanbase raises expectations. That Iowa site is in full freak out mode after losing AT ASSEMBLY HALL. Get real. On the contrary, I will handle our loss at Breslin with dignity. When/if we lose at Illinois, I may freak out then too.

Anyway. Its Iowa basketball, what can they really expect? ( they do have a good team though)

I was given tickets to the IU/MSU game this Sunday right behind the MSU bench with the stipulation I could not wear Cream and crimson... I'm very tempted to disobey

I totally agree! His defense is killing us. I watched him get beat off the dribble way too many times. His shots are out of control and he tries to get rebounds with one friggin' hand.

Wear it under other clothes and take them off when you "get too warm".

Wait, did they only restrict you from wearing "cream and crimson"? What were the exact words?

"My ideas for upcoming home game with Indiana, Why cant we get a pregnant woman giving birth in of free throw line to help distract the opposing player"

"I say take every fat guy with man boobs, put them behind the basket, have them lift their shirts, and play with their nipples every time Indiana shoots."

Bwahahaha  Freaking awesome!  lol They should do that behind the Curtain of Distraction at ASU!  lol  Great idea!!!

Bryant is getting into foul trouble fairly often.
When he does get in trouble Crean looks down the bench and puts in Max B.
I would like to personally thank Hanner for partying too much because I doubt
Max would be here if Hanner was still around.

. Max is more productive in one game than HP was in a season
