James Blackmon Jr to undergo Surgery *Out for Season?

Recommended Posts

Best wishes JB for a full recovery. I don't remember his dad ever having the same poor luck with injuries. James Sr could not shoot as well but was a much better leaper and defender than his son.

And that part of CTC's statement "...he has a tough road ahead of him...." suggests to me it's a season ending injury and not a simple scope job that would permit him to return in a couple of weeks.  And I in no way mean this in jest, but if it is serious surgery and season ending and now the right knee after having surgery on the left knee, then I can not foresee him opting for the NBA draft or attempting to go overseas and we'll see him in candystripes next season.

Unless he doesn't want to play for our next coach and uses the transfer-sit year to rehab.... (if anyone wants to get on me for saying that, keep in mind this is the internet)

Without JBJ, I would like to see Yogi, Rojo, Williams, Max and Bryant start. Sub in Hartman, Z, OG & Morgan. The good news is we still have a lot of potential from outside the arc even without JBJ. Additionally, we have seen nice progression from OG & Morgan. Enough so that we should expect decent contributions. Z is a little unpredictable defensively but JBJ was abysmal. Not sure Z will be worse. JBJ was certainly a more lethal scorer but he also forced some shots. This could be a rallying point for this team, sad JBJ had to suffer the injury but I am pulling for his recovery.

Macro - best wishes to JBJ.  Here's hoping they find a minor tear and can simply repair his meniscus.  (I heard 10 minutes ago that's still an option)    Sucks for the kid.  I hope he recovers quickly, and comes back stronger.

Micro - it offers Crean an excuse.  Which also sucks.  "But Mr. Glass, we lost 15 points a game!"  "I know, but he can't guard anybody.  Aren't you in some ways better off without him?"   "No.  He's a warrior."

I guess that blows up the hopes of those hoping it was a TC cover up story.

Nah, this just means that it is a much more serious incident than we originally thought. JBJ probably stabbed a guy and we're still trying to cover it up.

In all serious wish James and full recovery, this sucks

Man, I wish JBJ a swift recovery!

While trying to be objective, I would just look at other highly rated college players that have incurred injury in high school and college. If you look at players like KI Irving, Greg Oden, and countless others when you have an injury or injuries in high school and then college in a chronic nature it is naïve to think it will not carry over into the professional realm.

So I'm guessing it pretty much guarantees him being back next year?

Unless he transfers where else would he go? I can't see any NBA team wanting him, I don't imagine that he'd want to go overseas/
