Popular Post BlackmonGetsBuckets Posted January 2, 2016 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2016 As I watch the game today, one thing is for certain: OG Anunoby needs more minutes. He is very instinctual on the offensive end (knows when to cut/spot up for 3) and adds another athlete to the floor. Sure, there will be freshman mistakes. He still commits way too many fouls and his defensive progression is lacking behind his progress offensively, but he will learn as he goes (just like all freshmen do). I'm not saying he should steal considerable minutes from a worthy veteran, but let's see what the young man can give us. Who knows, we may need an athletic shot maker in a big game this year. ----- BGB OUT ----- Class of '66 Old Fart, LockdownD, PrideofFeeLane and 8 others 11 Quote
Trish Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I agree. Has a high IQ for the game. Knows his spacing very well. Needs to get quicker and stronger, but under the right coach, he could have a bright future. CrossboneIU22 and BlackmonGetsBuckets 2 Quote
MoyeNeeded Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Steal minutes from a worthy veteran! If that was the case, he should be pulling down about 30 per/game. Not a lot of Veterans that impressive. HoosierAloha 1 Quote

Popular Post OG's Barber Posted January 3, 2016 Popular Post Posted January 3, 2016 OG played his best game of the year tonight in my opinion. Had a Hartman like game in the sense that he just always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. Sure he had a bad play or two but he's a freshman, it's bound to happen. He had his best game in a tough environment on the road in the Big 10. I agree with you BGB, I'm all for having OG play more minutes. Naturalhoosier, ALASKA HOOSIER, Stuhoo and 9 others 12 Quote
coonhounds Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Og is good but today when people were calling for more minutes he was in early foul trouble. He is young and I think can be really special here but will struggle at times this season. ALASKA HOOSIER and JaybobHoosier 2 Quote
Miller'sTheMan Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 He's a good player. Athletic, strong, good shooter. He needs to be on the court for at least 15 mpg barring foul trouble if I were coaching. coonhounds 1 Quote

GloryDays Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I really like the offense with OG on the floor. He seems to know where to be as far as spacing and a 4 who can stretch the floor may be exactly what this squad needs (see Christian Watford) .I myself would love to see a more conventional lineup moving Troy into the 3 spot. Not bashing JBJ but his injury could actually help in the long run as It forces CTC to look at a different approach. incrediboy Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I cannot recall ever seeing any freshman from any team have his "arrival" in two conference road games like OG has, and I've been watching IU basketball since my freshman year in Bloomington in 1968. What could be a better omen than having a coming-out party in your first two B1G road games? OG also reminds me of a past great, I just can't recall whom. The build, the hair... Maybe one of the others on here can make the connection. While we're praising the kids, good things have happened with Morgan on the floor the past couple of games also. The kid plays defense, rebounds and has his head in the game. I love this year's recruiting class. Stuhoo, HoosierAloha and lillurk 3 Quote

I am NOT saying that he will ever be this good, or that the extremely small sample size equates to a comparable, but I think the reason the peoples like his game so much is because it has a little bit of... biteoftheapple Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I honestly do not see the Wilkerson comparison, but I hope you are correct. Bobby was a valuable asset to those great years. Quote
scots07 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Not as flamboyant, but reminds me of Ray Tolbert. O.G. is a little more fluid as a freshman. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Bobby Wilkerson I thought of Wilkerson, and I do see some physical similarities, but that's not the comparison I had in mind. Might not even be an IU player, but he definitely reminds me of someone. HoosierTrav Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Love OG. He has incredible size and athleticism. Also has a great touch from deep. I agree with everyone who sees something special in him. That challenged layup, where there was obvious body contact, really stood out to me. He exploded out of a power dribble in such short space, absorbed the contact, and his body kept rising upward. His athleticism is crazy for his size. Just wait until he figures out that no one can physically match him. Napleshoosier, waitingon6, HoosierAloha and 2 others 5 Quote
Miller'sTheMan Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 He could be an absolute beast at the 4 spot. He's so athletic and has great shooting range to be a mismatch on offense for whoever guards him there, but is also strong and well built to battle with 4's down low or battle them on the boards. Gotta give credit to Crean for finding him. maxwell, ALASKA HOOSIER, HoosierAloha and 2 others 5 Quote
