He was against Victor Oladipo and OG Anunoby because they were out of state and 3 stars. He was pro Gelon, Patterson and Hollowell because they were in state. Just be careful believing his rhetoric is what I'm saying.

Disclaimer I don't disagree with what you are saying, but to be fair he was as anti Hollowell as any poster at the time. Two years prior to him being on campus he discussed how lazy Hollowell was as well as a bad kid. Other than that I have had similar discussions over the years. That Vic and Will was was loathed by him. He was more pro Patterson than anyone I heard from then. We definitely all have our likes and dislikes I suppose.

I like Old Friends input because I think he is on point more than he is not. I also tend to buy his take on rankings. Year in and year out I watch kids playing really good basketball that I have never heard of. Butler made a living off of those kids. Anyone remember losing to them at Bankers Life when Cody and company were #1? Does anyone think that Butler team had more talent?   Coaching makes a difference and hopefully this year that advantage will be on our side. I trust that Coach Miller knows what he is doing when building a team and I will go with the guys he wants regardless of the rankings.

With you 100% here.  He is certainly the type that creates reality in his own mind.

Any type of forecasting is never going to be entirely accurate. But I have a very strong suspicion that if you ran a regression of rankings against points averaged in college, the R squared would be very high.

Yeah I watched him a many times over the last 2 years (a couple of those live). I was very impressed with his sophomore year's team run in the tournament.   He was a monster last year in regionals in a loss to Carmel.  They couldn't stop him.

I was "against Oladipo?"   Really?   Show me.  No.  I was not.  Not at all.  The point I made then is the same one I'll make now.  I don't think any coach needs to go to New Jersey, Maryland, Washington DC, Alabama, or anywhere like that to get 3* kids.  Oladipo was a kid nobody knew, but at that time, I said any Dematha kid had a chance, and liked his athleticism.  And I don't think anyone on any board was as complimentary of him as I was following his freshman year.  

I never made a single comment against Anunoby.  Not one.  In fact, I said I hoped people wouldn't compare him to Oladipo and would allow him to become whoever he was going to be.  You are fabricating.  

And I was anti-Hollowell from the beginning.  Anyone who's paid attention at all would know that.  Saying I was pro Hollowell is a lie.  An absolute, fabricated lie.  You're damned right I was pro Patterson.  He didn't qualify academically.  How can you hold that one against me?  

As far as Gelon, I simply told people not to kill him because he wouldn't be a contributor until his junior or senior season, and now we won't know that.  I said anyone who thought he could contribute immediately needed to temper expectations, and that he would be a fit in Crean's offense if he were allowed to play the same kind of role Matt Roth did.  

When have I said I was "connected?"  When?  Name me one time.  Give one example.  Just one. Those are your words "he tells us he is."  I do?  When?  How?  Because I still know some people in the athletic department and talk with them once in a while?   That's true, but I have only brought that up on a couple of occasions, and never with anything having to do with recruiting except the fact that Crean never called Trevon Blueitt after he de-committed to UCLA.  That one's true...100%.  That makes me "connected?"   Or is this something else you've created from your own interpretation and lack of reading comprehension skills?

Vic and Will were not "loathed" by me.  Are you serious?  Where do you come up with this stuff?  I didn't like Crean's practice of killing local relationships in favor of out of state kids.  I still stand by that, despite a few hits.  Not all of those kids are going to miss; but around here the commodity is more well known.  That was and is my side of the debate on the matter.  You're good enough to be fair all the time, right?  (Thanks for your comment about Hollowell) What about Stanford Robinson?   What about Guy-Marc Michele?  What about Max Hoetzel?   Forget about them?  I was accused earlier of cherry picking.   Hhmmm...   At the time, I said I liked any kid from DeMatha and liked Oladipo's athleticism.  I think we could have found a Will Sheehey around here, and I still don't understand why Crean needed to spend 10x more than Wisconsin to recruit.  $600K in a year, the guy spent.  

That means I "loathed" Oladipo and Sheehey?  At the very least....be fair.  You and others can create your own accuracy; but at least be consistently fair.  Saying I loathed those two is unfair.

No you didn't.  You provided one side, I provided the other, also with facts.  Rankings are based on opinion.   They are based on what other people say, and not even from watching kids play.  I stand by everything I say or I wouldn't say it.  You're complaining about style, and I couldn't care less if you like the way I say things or hate the way I say things.  I gave evidence that backed up my point and you said I was cherry picking, even though I said (and meant) I can do the same thing every year.  I gave local examples so people would get the point.  You think those were the only examples?  Hardly.   Your evidence and my evidence would hold equal value, I would think; and I stand by my point that I think the rankings are crap and designed to sell magazines.
