Thomas Bryant and Emmitt Holt cited for illegal alcohol posession

Recommended Posts

The last speeding ticket I got was in Bloomington. Unmarked car sitting in someone's driveway on Walnut St. Going into B-Town he was radioing ahead for cops at the intersection to ticket whoever. on the way out some a-hole passed me on double yellow line no cop around same friggin area. We didn't go to Bloomington for a very long time after. I drive over 50,000 miles a year never seen a more ridiculous speed trap. I have even survived the crazy Illinois speed traps. Sorry for vent no relation to what is going on.

all i want is a coach that will properly prepare incoming players on how and how not to be an iubb student-athlete, have some cojones when one breaks the rules, not be disliked by a significant portion of indiana high school and aau coaches, and offer only players that are iu material, while contending for the b1g title and proving to be a tough out in the ncaa tournament in two or three years of every four.  that shouldnt be too much to ask.  despite that not being an easy task at indiana, there are guys out there who can get it done.  hopefully they'll be interested.  crean has been given a fair opportunity to prove he's the man for the job.  18 new scholarship players 2012/13 - 2014/15, more than half not iu material (imo).  at least 9 players with illegal offenses and/or failed drug tests since he took over, majority of them repeats.  290th in opponent ppg last season.  tough even for me to view iubb as a respectable program right now.  need someone who can build what we had in 2011-12, 2012-13 and sustain it.

Alex B. has tweeted that the release from the excise police he posted may have been a couple of years old! So stay tuned tomorrow for another exciting adventure of 'As the Bottle Spins'.

While I doubt this will actually take place I would like to see Crean come out publicly and address this issue. We've heard from McRobbie and Glass but thus far Crean has never publicly taken a stance. I think that's what drives the perception that's he's soft on this issue regardless of what he does behind closed doors. At least it'd help me get some closure knowing he's doing something about it.

The fact that Hanner only sat 2 games for friggin' driving drunk helps drive the perception that he's soft on players.

He's still scheduled to be at Lucas Oil tomorrow with 'Cool Dad', Coach Wilson and others. I know the media that arrive will try to delve deeper; I'm wondering how the reception will be from those with the $$ that attend.

Agree. I honestly don't think Bryant or Holt should be booted for this. IMO, Bryant and the team run until they puke, and then run some more. Holt does the same, and I'd be ok with him missing the two exhibition games as well. Many disagree with that, but that's where I'm at.

IMO, the somewhat over-the-top (IMO) reaction to Holt and Bryant on this minor citation, is directly tied to everyone's displeasure with how Crean handled the Hanner DUI situation. Of course the ensuing incidents add to it, but I think it's mostly about the Hanner DUI.

The fact that Hanner only sat 2 games for friggin' driving drunk helps drive the perception that he's soft on players.

I'd love to be in some of those small group conversations tomorrow...that would be better than any scoop #$premie$ insiders could give.

Doing their job, but they're also targeting and pushing to increase their numbers year over year...

@insidethehall: Indiana excise police release states that a record 258 citations were written in Bloomington from Wed-Sat of welcome week.

Edit: @insidethehall: Correction: Looks like that release from the excise police citations may have been a couple of years old. My apologies, folks.

I dont understand the push back against the excise police. They are targeting? No they are doing their job and giving out citations to kids that are breaking the law. Yeah a lot of people do it, but its still against the law. Kids should be extra cautious the first month or so of school if they are going to drink. Im not calling out anyone specific but Ive seen too many IU fans the last few days that have been trying to place the blame on everyone but Holt and Bryant. They messed up, they were in the car with booze. Egos need to be knocked down a bit

I'd just as soon cut off the head of the snake. He's not winning and he's bringing in players who're embarrassing the university. Is there an upside with this guy? Guys are going to class, okay. Think there might be another coach who can accomplish that and recruit people who'll win without sullying IU's reputation. Jeebus, how much straw can this camel carry?
