(2016) SF Mario Kegler to Miss State

Recommended Posts

What do you think about our chances here pap?

MSU was the leader coming into the visit. I haven't gotten much feedback on the visit to be honest and not sure I will, but safe to assume IU gained some ground. IU does well on visits, let alone HH, and Troy has always been a good host. I'll see what else I can get on this but sequence of events following the visit seem to suggest IU is right there.

Agree with all you said here, but one thing I'd like to add is that Howland is coaching there now. He can preach tourney success, development of players, and getting talent to the NBA. I realize it was at UCLA, but that has to appeal to kids to play for a coach like that, especially when it's your home state school that you can help bring to the top. I can see the appeal for Kegler with MSU, even though I believe IU is the best place for him

I think your Howland point is a good one, and all the grist seems to be about MSU. But here's the math to me on this one.
This is a kid who:
1) left the state for his Junior year to attend a high profile, highly competitive Prep school in Florida.
2) spent the summer playing in every single showcase event he was invited to.
3) then transfers to the absolute highest profile, most competitive Prep school in the country, which is in Virginia, for his Senior year.
To me, that doesn't sound like the plan if you want to spend your college career in Starkville, MS. That's the plan if your goal is to play at the highest profile and most competitive program that you can. I think this kid wants exposure and he gets that here, or Maryland, not some 2nd tier SEC football first school.
But since I didn't want Jamal Murray, what do I know.
Really looking forward to seeing Kegler at Marshall County again this year. Great chance to gauge development.

Looks like MSU is trying to put together a frontcourt of Kegler, Davis, and Herard with Kegler playing the 3.

God I hope that doesn't happen, what a kick to the guts it would be to lose 2 of our top targets to freaking Mississippi State.  Here's hoping Herard ends up going to Kansas.

Lebron made "Staying home" cool again. Still hoping we can pull Kegler or DD. Also, let's get this "Staying Home" memo to the 2017 class if Indiana.

And tell them to hurry, because I'm not sure we are going to have any spots left in 2017 by the end of the year.

Something tells me that tweet was bad for us, I just don't see kegler coming here

At this point, it's even less likely that De'Ron is going somewhere other than here. So, it's a choice to read it as "DD, I think I'm going to join you at Indiana follow me" or "DD, I know it probably won't happen, but I want you with me at Miss St! Follow me!"

Both scenarios are pretty much just as likely. Unless Mario has also started retweeting a lot of Miss State fantweets recently, I'll choose to go with the first one.
