WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 After leaving IU to attend State Fair Community College and subsequently committing to Missouri State for this next season, and now with a new head coach coming into Mo. St., he's decommitting from Mo. St. Have to feel a little sympathy for him and I hope he can find a program that works out for him.hmmSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Old Friend Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Still think he could have had a Matt Roth kind of role in Crean's system as a junior/senior. Hope he finds a good spot. Quote

And that matters a lot too.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app I think the absolution of your "nope" statement is difficult to argue against given we'll never know; but Roth was a great spot up shooter. So was Gelon given the right circumstances; and I think he could have done what Roth did had he hung around and had talent around him. Neither would have done much on their own. That I agree with. Walking Boot of Doom Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Matt Roth nor Grant Gelon should have had a scholarship on any Indiana team that hopes to contend for the accolades our fan base expects. Roth came in during a desperate time in the program, and Gelon came in when even Tim Prillers and Jeremiah Aprils were scholarship recipients. Roth would have been great on a mid-major squad, in my opinion. Beautiful shot, but extremely limited in his effectiveness in extended minutes. Gelon, probably at best, may have developed into a similar role at Indiana. Hope he finds the time to develop and succeed at a mid-major somewhere. Popular Post VO5 Posted March 24, 2018 Popular Post Posted March 24, 2018 We’re comparing Gelon to Roth? I think that’s a bit disrespectful to Roth tbh Class of '66 Old Fart, Alford Bailey, 323SGrant and 9 others 12 Quote

If you know more than I do (which is very likely), I'll defer to you because I have no clue. Quote

Let’s just say, I agree that Gelon could’ve been a nice piece with his ability as a shooter. However, he was no Roth.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Roth, Pritchard, Holloway and Ebanks were in what would have been the '08 class. Quote
Alford Bailey Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Cant believe we dug this one back up. Roth was a helluva HS player in Illinois could play D1 in a system that worked to get him open. Gelon is not D1 level. SOOO glad Crean is gone. WayneFleekHoosier, BGleas and 323SGrant 3 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Stuhoo must have heard some off court stuff here. That’s interesting. This was another recruitment that indicated to me Crean’s days were numbered. Lots of people fought me on this one too. Lots of Roth arguments, etc. Gelon showed very clearly in HS he wasn’t Matt Roth. Crean goofed up on this one from the beginning. On GG, good luck to him and hope he knocks it out of the park wherever he ends up. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Kepner and BGleas 2 Quote

That wasn’t who he was, however. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Class of '66 Old Fart, thebigweave and WayneFleekHoosier 3 Quote
