IU Hoosier41

OFFICIAL: Ferrell returns for Senior Season

He has to know what his decision is so why dont he just say. Stupid if you ask me

I think he is being sensitive to the community. If he is indeed coming back the time isn't right for people to be celebrating .

i didn't think of people celebrating so I see your point. I just wish this whole debacle wasn't happening in the first place. This announcement thing is just turning into a big mess imo.

At this point I feel like Yogi is just doing it to get attention. Wait until the 25th? at a steak house?

Ya' think?

Agree...and I also think it's mostly his dad.   If he's announcing he's leaving, there is no reason to ask people to wait 2 weeks and then do it at a steak house which didn't exist until a year ago.    This whole thing is comical.  Very sorry about the death of the student...and did anybody see the mug of the dude they arrested?  That even creeped me out.     Just a weird and crappy situation.

Some say that Yogi's announcement for IU was tainted because the press leaked it before he could; and now this announcement gets over-shadowed by a gruesome murder of a coed.   Why announce at this point?  Just come back and play basketball.  Where else are you gonna' go?

The point though, is how full of yourself do you have to be to believe people will "celebrate" you - a junior -  returning for his senior season; and that you should postpone a completely contrived announcement to prevent said celebration?

I agree, but I should have said he doesn't want the focus [good/bad] to be on him and his planned announcement tonight.

People on here will celebrate.
People on Twitter will celebrate.
People on other IU sites will celebrate.

Nobody will celebrate in real life, just virtual lives.

At the risk of sounding insensitive to the Wilson family, and all that is going on in Bloomington regarding Hannah's murder, etc., what difference for all of that will a day make?

Will the Wilson family be more accepting of Yogi's announcement tomorrow? Will the loss of their daughter be any less?

It could just as easily be seen as posturing on Ferrell's part.

I think there's a big difference between announcing at a steak house and releasing something through IU tomorrow, which is likely what he will do.

It that was all that was at stake (see what I did there? "stake" "steak"), why not just send out a press release tonight (or even earlier today) and just be done with it. I just see some theatrics where they ought not be.

Is it sad that I totally enjoyed a SATURDAY off from the construction site and got to really get out and explore Wyoming and forgot about this announcement? My wife just asked me what his decision was while we were Skyping and I said, "you know, totally forgot about it." Hope he stays but at this point, meh.

I see what you're saying but my overall point was that there's still a big difference between the steakhouse and a press release. There will still be attention on Yogi, but much less than if he was going with the original plan. Maybe he's just giving everyone another day to report on what's truly important, because Osterman, Miller, Rabjohns, etc. will do their job when it's time for Yogi to announce regardless. Who knows why he's waiting? I wish he would just release it too, but he's not so we live with it.

At this point I don't care either way.

Since it was put off until Sunday, the only thing that has a time limit is if he goes pro.

If he is going to stay at IU, he could simply not announce anything and then let it die.  The option of GOING PRO would simply be cut off.

This may be a way of settling the STAY option without having to answer questions that will undoubtedly be asked by the press in a press conference unless he is well prepared with good reasons for putting this off.

Why does it have to be this hard? Classy move but can't he just tell someone that he's gonna stay/go pro and they can report it to the press. He doesn't have to have a press conference right?
