I want Tom Crean to stay

Recommended Posts

Absolutely.  I personally was pissed when I first heard.  I don't care if it was a walk-on who had this happened to them from the top guy on the team.  The top guy needs to be gone.  Some players on this team at a given time were enjoying their celebrity status a bit much and unfortunately the man at the top had no vision to knock them back a step.  Took a life changing moment to wake them up which is sad.

Oh I can tell you right now this crap wouldn't fly on my ship.

I'd even go to say those with a coaching background in general are more critical too.

I think anyone with even a modicum of basic business skills would question the return on investment, the annual turnover, the cost for doing business, and of course, the product being peddled. If this were a business, Crean would have been fired four years ago, along with half the employees.

Count me 100% in the camp that if Yogi/Troy/JBJ/RoJo all stay and we add Bryant that Crean should get another year.

Argue whatever you want about our ceiling but that squad has final four potential with Crean at the helm. Crean has built teams before that have made the final 4 and others that were really close (yes we were close in 2011-12 and 2012-13). The last 2 years have been frustrating but looking at our potential roster right now for next year I am in for another year.

If a bunch of departures happen you re examine. But with that squad you go into next year with Crean as coach and tell him they need to be top 25 all year, make at least the elite 8 or you're down.

We're a year behind schedule on this group of guys. Many of us thought make tourney is ok for 2013-14 and be able to make a deep run in 2014-15. Instead we made It a year late and have a roster that CAN make a deep run in 2015-16. With the core back and the addition of Bryant we have all the tools (including coach) to do it.

It's fine if you want to abandon ship now but it seems like we'd at that point have dealt with pain of this core group of guys and throwing out any chance of redemption in 2015-16.

And we then miss out on 2 really good years where we achieved more than we have in the 20 before it if you fire Crean 4 years ago before 2011-13 seasons.

This. I'm not going to sit here and claim I am the most sound basketball mind around because I am not. I am definitely more of a football/baseball guy, but I have enough working knowledge of the game of basketball where I am educated enough to judge performances and little nuances of the game. As a coach it just drives me insane to see the same mistakes happen time and time and time again without adjustments or signs of learning being present. I can deal with losing, but not when all the loses are almost carbon copies of each other. It just really irks me when I sit back and evaluate this team under Coach Crean (not counting his first few seasons because really isn't fair to him) I can only really point to 1 season where the team seemed to improve as the season went on. The last 3 seasons we have either regressed or stayed the same.

Reading this thread makes me believe that some of these posters are either related to Crean in some way, or really do not know basketball.

Eh, I get the impression that some of the more pro-Crean fans that they don't follow as closely everything going on. Obviously I can't say for sure, but I mean I've seen the OP refer to the two guys we actually have committed as guys who can help out down low...... when they are wings

lets just say all if that happens, we keep Crean, the core and get Bryant. Is that a championship team? I don't think so but they should be pretty good. So, where does that leave IU going into the following year? We would almost certainly have a mass exodus again and be starting over. It's the same story again. Same roller coaster

that was my point. How obsessively do they watch? Morgan can play some post D and rebound though.

So if I support Crean than I clearly do not know enough about basketball and haven't followed closely enough.

As I said earlier I'm not into the mob mentality. Man of you guys would have had Brey's head on a stake 2-3 years ago.

When you have a witch hunt everyone gets burned.

you comparing IU to Notre Dame several times suggests to some that you don't get it.

Never seen ND football fans compare their coaching situation to IUs

Please review Creans 17 year history as head coach, then point out what represents hope our records will improve. Take note of where his defenses were in all seasons. You may also read summarys of what the Marquette fan base felt upon his departure.

You said we had help coming down low, when we have two wings committed. Where is the help again

There may be a reason the # of Crean Haters are so high to create a mob? It's not like we decided to join forces at a Sunday brunch.
It's not just here either. Every fan site, Twiitter, Facebook, etc...
His actions and results have created this. It's not the fans fault as some like to think.

You missed the brunch? It was pretty good, Dalton wanted all the French toast to himself though
