Potential fallout from coaching change

Recommended Posts

The only thing I hope, is that if Crean and IU part ways, the fan base treats him amiably, and thanks him for restoring academic excellence and a much higher basketball standard at IU than when he started. Tom Crean has brought our fan base some incredible moments and memories, and deserves respect and thanks for his commitment to the program.

Hopefully as a fan base we can demonstrate class and gratitude towards someone who gave it everything they had, but fell short of our rightfully high expectations.

I mean there are always people that are going to speak poorly of the guy. I don't know if it is true, but some fans seem to hate Tom Crean the man more so than Tom Crean the coach. It sucks, because he really seems like a good guy, but it is what it is. And there are always people who think doing something to the sports team/program is worthy and deeming them a bad person who should be condemned.

Who do we lose IF. Crean leaves?

Troy is gone either way. Probably Stan also since the next coach won't want his baggage. I don't see anyone else leaving except maybe one of the two signees who wants out, which we could add a true big. I certainly don't see any of the fallout like with Sampson. An Indiana education combined with good character kids leads me to think we won't lose many other than the obvious ones I mentioned.

Do you think Troy to the NBA?

I don't want to worry about this story until after the tourney but it's hard as heck to avoid. It's our future and I'm worried. If Glass actually decided to move on he better make the right hire, or I'll be ticked. I wonder WHEN/IF this decision was made too. Could explain recruiting lull, people moving on, etc..

I'm so freaking confused. I don't know how to feel.

The last 2 sentences explain my last 2 months of fanhood.

Yes. He reminds me of a young Rodman with a better handle. He has temendous upside and won't be burdened like McGary with marijuana tests he now faces incollege. I'm certainly not judging him as he has been fun to watch for 2 years. I think he goes in late first or early second round. Just my opinion.

Hmm. Interesting take. Something tells me we are going to need to last till at least next week for him to go at least that high though.

Nice pun on words. I think he's our key and has always been this year. I admire him for coming here and his mom for posting at Btown when things were tough. He has the talent to get nicely paid and I suspect he will be soon.

Timing of a decision and what was said to Bryant and the Makers is what I want to know.

If he declares for the draft I highly doubt he gets drafted.  I went through ten of the most recent mock drafts today. Only one listed Yogi (around 45th pick) and none listed Williams as even a second round pick. If Troy Williams had some people whispering in his ear that he should go, I could definitely see him listening and going, but I don't think it will be a smart choice. He'll end up in the D League where there are tons of players just like him

Troy isn't even projected to be drafted. I don't see him leaving for the league.

Yogi is currently projected at 42 by Draft Express though. He's could really cement an early second round pick with a solid tournament performance.

Just adding onto this...I saw the DraftExpress top 100 a week or 2 ago and Jimbo wasn't even on it unless I missed him. I went over the list twice and nowhere to be found.
