He was asked about the oversign and its affect on the 4 year guaranteed scholarship granted by the new Bill of Rights.

He said as he always does, "things work themselves out".

This has indeed proven to be true.  The mode in which it does has been a hot topic and I don't exactly know where I stand on it.

I tell you, people would be a lot more OK with how things work themselves out if we showed improvement after kickin' all these guys to the curb.

Legitimate criticism on roster management-----they always seem to work themselves out by the experienced players leaving and new inexperienced players coming in---at some point we need some players who are experienced and have a chance to develop better defense and offensive games.  Upperclassmen and experience are what we have been sorely missing the last couple of years.

I quit paying attention to this Crean babble long ago. Sorry for not being super excited about these guys. These guys are decent recruits I think, but honestly neither are game changers. I'm pretty sick of hearing how every no name recruit is gonna be another Victor. I think the staff has milked that one long enough. I have zero faith in this staff so I'm praying for a coaching change so I can get excited about recruiting again.

I would argue that our youth the last two seasons shows things do not always work out.

yep. Although, I honestly buy the Morgan hype. He'll be a good one for sure. Jury is still out on Anunoby. I will follow his senior season as close as I can. I like the inside out hype about him.

But yes, our recruiting lately has me bummed.

When I say this, it's nothing against these guys as they are good pieces BUT we need a Thomas Bryant, Caleb Swanigan, Zimmerman, etc. We actually need 2 such players.

Ummm----these are good recruits---are we not allowed to be happy about them coming here?

Yeah---We know---- everything is Crean's fault---so got it.

Stubbed my toe----Crean's fault---he should have recruited a better team so I didn't have to get so mad at the TV!

It's raining---Crean's fault----if only Zeller and Vonleigh had stayed and that 7 footer whose name shall not be mentioned had not transferred--we would have had 3 big guys on the team this year with their heads so high in the clouds so as to stop the rain for months.

Call the mob---get out the pitchforks---everything is Crean's fault!

Can't wait till we all get back to analyzing and discussing and ---stop whining!

Who blamed Crean for anything in this thread?  I've seen people say this stuff sounds a lot like Mike Davis's "help is on the way" crap, and it does.

You call it "whining", I call it valid complaints and criticisms.  Although it's pretty ironic that posters will whine about the "whining".

I'm watching to see what AE and Remy do this year and especially Hollowell next year. If they have Mo Creek type years after transferring that doesn't look good for the program.

Just trying to keep us on topic.  This is supposed to be BTown Banners--not BTown Bummers.

This thread was supposed to be about OG and Morgan---not yet another Crean bashing special.

We have enough Crean bashing threads---just  trying to keep us focused on welcoming our newest recruits---a  4 star and a rising 3 star who probably ends up being a 4 star.

Now---feel free to bash Crean some more---as usual.

No one bashed Crean.  Saying his comments sound like "help is on the way" isn't bashing, that's calling them what they are.

Everyone keeps talking about letting these two players develop. Do you all realize that we are not satisfied with the way things are now and by letting these two "develop" (which takes time), the team probably won't have the necessary contributions needed for next season? Hence, we need Thomas Bryant for next year.

Man, the pessimism is sad... There's really not that much pretense with Crean. All the jargon is real; you might think it's weird or corny and that's understandable. Crean is a different bird for sure. I see why people get annoyed with the pressers, but if you take out your hatred for him, they're actually really informative. Some would understand the decision making on some things if they really listened. He has known from the beginning that the heat here isn't forgiving. They're a lot closer to turning it than you'd think...

I know most of you think he's an inferior basketball mind compared to Hoosiers...but he's got two players coming In who plug right in to needs.

Edit: I'm not at all saying I like the state of the program... I happen to think Crean is good enough to get it fixed as opposed to starting over with someone new. The recruiting concerns are not that realistic. Bryant isn't some sure thing. Got to find a center, but you don't recruit to the list. Rankings are 100% meaningless. They're building a team; they're not collecting players like Kentucky.

I'm like 83% sure that you're Tom Crean.

How long does he get to rebuild a team though?  We can agree last season was unacceptable correct?  I mean on and off the court was just not Indiana basketball.  So now this past offseason we had some more "slip ups" off the court.

I really want coach to succeed here because I think he is a great representative of the program WHEN he does what he knows he should do.  In the 2011-13 seasons we played some good ball and the stats reflected that.  I do wish he was able to adjust more both in game and dealing with players.  I think it's possible to change but will he?

I got it down. Sign a very athletic but raw players, oversign them by 2, and replace them with other athletic and raw players. Sign a late 2 star for him only to be gone next year.

Recruiting strategy. Let's not go after 4 stars who are good teammates and keep them around for 3 or 4 years. Doesn't make sense.....
