Bryan Medema Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Not sure if this has been posted or not but there's some interesting stuff in here. http://www.btpowerhouse.com/2015/3/11/8188225/does-indiana-lead-for-2015-4-star-center-thomas-bryant One thing that really stuck out was this quote from Yogi's dad, "Look, he ultimately wants to do great things for his school. He may be leaning toward coming back. There are a few factors. Getting a big man to play with may be one of those." Didn't really think Yogi leaving this year was a possibility until now. Can one of the Admins ban this guy for ruining my day/week/month? Making me sad constitutes banning right? lelgar4 1 Quote
IUsafety Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Post MSU game interview with Bryant. Doesn't reveal much. At least we are still in the running. He still list four schools - Indiana, Syracuse, pUKe and Missouri.http://www.insidethehall.com/2015/03/11/2015-mcdonalds-all-american-thomas-bryant-recaps-iu-visit-talks-recruitment/ ccgeneral 1 Quote
Popular Post Bryan Medema Posted March 11, 2015 Popular Post Posted March 11, 2015 Good quote from that article though- Sums up my feelings on this whole situation: "If the Hoosiers are able to add Morgan, Anunoby, and Bryant while maintaining the core of this basketball team - Indiana would be an incredibly dangerous team next season and with Tom Crean's coaching seat growing white hot, a commitment by Thomas Bryant could change the course of history for this Indiana program and Tom Crean himself." His on-court demeanor reminds me of Sheehey or Montrezl Harrell; exciting, celebrating/yelling in the face of his opponents, etc. -- the type of guy I've been saying this year's team has been missing. lillurk, MikeRoberts, Happydaze and 7 others 10 Quote

We definitely need a guy that "plays angry" on this team. I don't care if he will be a frosh or not, natural born leaders can change the attitude of a small group in a heartbeat. Bryan Medema Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 So anyone else find it funny that a number of crystal ball predictions on Bryant have been deleted? That's some Chad Ford bullshit right there. Quote

Feathery Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 So if I understand the Cuse scholarship situation correctly, the self imposed a scholarship reduction for this season. Meaning if they take Bryant they have to get down to 11 players. They are currently at 13, Bryant would be 14. So Cuse would have to Crean 3 players to make it work. (I'd assume none will be the rising seniors, so thy can have a small class the following year) IU is currently over signed by 2. If we add Bryant we have to drop another player, for a total of 3. So both schools would have to Crean 3 players to get this kid. I first thought the sanctions would be the end of Cuse and Bryant. After reading more about it, I think it's a non issue. Stuhoo 1 Quote

Maybe they can make it work this year. But what if Bryant stays for year 2 or 3 or 4? The scholarship issue will have a lasting impact on Syracuse over the course of Bryant's entire career if he were to go there. Also, based on his track record, if Crean signs a player, that means there is a spot open. Regardless of how you feel about that, the way I see it, we need to open one more spot for Bryant, as the other two are already presumably secured. Syracuse now has to clear an additional two spots on top of the original one spot they planned to clear for Bryant. It's not the same. lillurk 1 Quote

As long as they don't Crean any of the to be seniors they will be fine I scholarships going forward. They will graduate 3 seniors next season, putting them at 9 scholarships. They can then have a class of 2. So the scholarship crunch might not be an issue if they tackle it early (this coming season). Quote

But to be 2 over already and still recruiting a position of need is ridiculous. If he stays the Creaning needs to stop. According to the IU student bill of rights their scholarship is supposed to be guaranteed for 4 years. Quote
HoosierAloha Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I don't they lose 12 scholarships over 4 years so they only get 10 scholarship players over the next 4 years IUsafety 1 Quote

It doesn't actually guarantee the scholarship four years, to my understanding. It guarantees them 4 years of paid education at IU,Should they chose to stay and take it, as a non-athlete. tkbbn, Diadem, bnkepner and 2 others 5 Quote
