Dalton Knecht is elite. Bonafide difference maker

Yep. I sat a couple rows up from the court tonight. A couple takeaways:

1) Knecht is allconf good. Smooth and gets his points in the flow of the game. I’m not a recruiting guy, so this is in no way a “i told u so” but watching him play WI and MSU it’s hard not to think he was a big miss.  He could’ve been our top scorer this year.

2) I’m not a huge greg gard fan but WI continues its tradition of developing players. They will probably be tough again. It’ll be tough to win up there. I could see them as a top 5 conf team.

Never got him on campus so for me not a miss just never got traction with him.   I guess it would be your definition of a miss.   If IU missed on him then every high major coach in college basketball did as well besides Barnes.  He is not just all conference good he is all-American good and would have been most teams  leading scorer this year.   Colorado kid that has been hiding in Colorado this whole time.  If any team missed on him it would have to be Colorado or the teams out West.    Absolute stud of a player

Like I said, I don’t really follow recruiting that well. I thought we had a visit scheduled? Or rumors we led or something…I dunno.  Either way, I am not taking a shot at our staff. More of a “what-if.” At least we were smart enough to target him, I guess.

It’s just a testament to how crazy the recruiting portal is. Between him this year and KSU’s haul last year, I don’t even know how you would begin to reliably account for it in the preseason models and predications.

What? You don't want to watch UConn squeak one out by 60 over Stonehill?

Bradley/Utah St probably game of the night.

interesting stat on Stonehill who recently became D1.   Stonehill beat Army by 13.  George Washington beat Stonehill by 45.    IU plays Army tomorrow

I was more surprised to see that Army only scored 44 points against Stonehill...

Army has shot 31% from the floor in their 1st 2 games. Not on 3’s, combined.

As far as I know, IU was never able to get the visit scheduled. They wanted him but he didn't seem to reciprocate that interest.

Had some zoom calls but never got him on campus.     For me a recruit has to step foot on campus before I get to invested in their recruitment

Bellarmine, Nov 29.

When the locals see them use to a school they all probably assume is still a D2 school, that'll be curtains.

And 2nd year in a row, no less.
Side note: It’s hysterical how quickly the Derik Queen narrative for Maryland fans has become how he didn’t sign with them because of how Kevin Willard, who was a UL Asst like 15 years ago, will be going to Louisville. Yeah, that’s exactly what’s gonna happen.

The Willard/UL noise sounds to me like contract jockeying from Willard’s agent more than anything. Maybe KW has interest, but would not guess he’s too high on their shortlist. Billy Donovan, if he’s looking for a soft landing and/or the Bulls rebuild? Jerome Tang or Dusty May making a leap? Scott Davenport, Ryan Odom, some other guy not top-of-mind with more recent juice? All seem as likely or moreso to get a sniff before Willard

Oh, for sure. Willard’s not a candidate there. May would certainly make sense. Personally, even with Tang’s age as a factor I’d make that guy an offer he can’t refuse. Temperamentally, he’s perfect for a rebuild like that.
