Who is the 1 seed next week if Illinois beats Iowa tonight?  I was hoping IU would get a crack at Wisconsin if they won the 8/9 game. Don’t like our chances against Cockburn and the Illini as much. Especially if Johnny Davis is out.

Winning on the road in the Big 1.o is extremely difficult... for Indiana.

I'm pretty sure IU's collection of road wins ranks at the bottom or close to the bottom in both quality and quantity.

You are correct. Every other big ten team either in the tourney or in the conversation had at least one road win vs. a tourney team. We did not.

It goes beyond that, I believe.

Nebraska just beat Wisconsin.  I’m not liking it.  That means if Illinois wins they will tie Wisconsin for 1st and they own the tie breaker.  We definitely don’t matchup well with Illinois.  Dickburn has owned TJD.

Right, but I don’t really care what the non-tournament worthy teams have done on the road. I’m only saying any other big ten team worthy of being in the tourney discussion has a signature road win against a tourney team except us. But to your point, looking at this alone, we are far more like the non-tourney teams than we are like the tourney teams.

Twas my point more than anything else, I guess. We're closer to the bottom than anywhere near the middle in quantity/quality. I guess looking at it we were really only two wins against the upper half of the Big 1.o to be similar to those upper half teams. Two of our road wins came against the bottom two teams and then one against T-10 place mighty Maryland. A little e and e against Penn State and a little better decision making pre-Northwestern and we might have had the sweep of the bottom 5 teams on the road and been safely in.

I always find it amusing when I hear people say "I don't want to be like UK." They had a 5-star point guard de-commit this weekend. No matter, they have another one coming in. Think of what a mess this board would be if Hood-Schifino dropped us right now. We get a 5 star recruit and it's a huge deal; we never get more than one in a class, meanwhile UK practically recycles 5-star recruits and doesn't even have to put much effort into getting them. 

 

But yeah, we don't want to be like UK. It's much more fun to recruit in the 100-150 range and then wonder why we don't win more.

Why would be want some sponsor giving our players a Porsche?! It's good our players are clean and don't get in tro.. errr I mean at least we hold our players accountable!

Not to rain on your parade, but we have several players on our roster now that drive really, really nice cars.

Small conference tournaments can be brutal. Louisiana was the 8 seed in the Sun Belt.  They have underperformed all year. When we played them there were some that thought they would give us a game because they had talent.  They beat the 1 seed yesterday and are about to take out Troy the 4 seed and will be playing for the auto-bid tomorrow.

Agreed, I'd much rather play Wisconsin.

Is this the best Iowa had played down the stretch under Fran? Normally they aren't tanking about now.
