I am sure Curt Cignetti and has staff (maybe therapist) maybe himself assigned to players to handle this idiocy to play out in the players favor same way as it applied L. Moore.  There’s a $105.6 reasons why.

Deadline for the athlete attorneys was yesterday 10/8. Can’t imagine how these guys are able to fully focus knowing at any point the appellate court could issue a stay to the NCAA and they would not be able to play. I know Louis Moore said last season he played much better when he was awarded his injunction knowing that was not hanging over him anymore. Hoping this drags out through next weekend at the very least to have both available for OSU. I doubt very much it extends that long though.

The longer it takes is probably better for the players. The NCAA has made their urgency known, so a quick ruling likely favors them.

If they’re inclined to “split the baby” it might take a while to write the brief. Complete hypothetical, but I could see them leaving the injunction in place with regards to eligibility but overruling the trial court on the more far reaching rulings, like forcing the portal back open and enjoining the non-parties (ie the conferences).

Who knows though, at this point. It’s not going to come before Nebraska, so there’s that.

Agreed.

My thoughts on it not dragging out come from reading (maybe there was no truth to this) that the appellate court told the trial judge to stop dragging her feet and rule on the stay. She did drag that ruling out as long as she could. A lawyer on X gave just a summary of all ongoing cases today. Someone asked about ruling on Indiana. He did say something could come down before the Nebraska game if they want to rule in favor of the NCAA and grant a stay. He said the court was still in deliberation after the players attorneys submissions.

The fact that some will end up playing and others will not really lends itself to needing a federal ruling of all or nothing in regards to the 22 class.

I have an osu fan coworker who is 100% convinced the players will keep their eligibility till October 19th just in time to give sayin another rough day

Hoping for them to get the full season of eligibility restored... but I can live with Daley and Wyatt being there to harass Sayin  - that works for me, too.

This is the class-certification one, correct? The only way this helps IU is if the initial plaintiffs win and the class certification and initial injunction gets reinstated. Seems unlikely.

Also, oral arguments don’t necessarily mean anything. Bit of an age-old debate among attorneys. It’ll likely take them a little bit to have their clerks write an opinion. I’m surprised they had oral arguments given the timing, but you never know what a given panel wants. Maybe they see this getting appealed past them.

The wackiness is unending.

Wow. That’s pretty big. All of those kids will likely be eligible for the 2022 season. I see the court set a very expedited briefing schedule that includes the issue of the governors EO. The Governor may have forced their hand. The court could unwind this in a way that hurts the players, but generally if you get a preliminary ruling from the Supreme Court like this it is a very good sign for your case.

This makes me a little more bullish on the Indiana case.

Also, if the Ohio Supreme Court were to somehow rule that the Governors EO is valid and makes the kids eligible we will probably see a cascading effect of other governors across the country doing it.

I haven't seen anything on X regarding Indiana this week.  Kind of surprised honestly was thinking this decision would come early in the week since the NCAA claimed it was an emergency.  Hoping the court holds this off until next week or beyond.  We are much better on D with Daley on the edge.
