Tarris Reed's 27 rebounds save the day for UConn. They just had a 1:35 long possession because of his offensive boards.

With 74 seconds left he has an outside shot at a 30/30 game lol

When I read the first sentence I thought it was hyperbole.

Likely. And the kid he plucked out of nowhere in D2 is probably playing in the NBA next year. He's got 2 more wins and 2 less losses in the NCAA tournament than DDV and he only became a D1 coach last year lol. They don't have a ton of NIL, but it doesn't matter because McCollum clearly knows how to identify underrated talent and develop it. Very wishful thinking IMO that he's going to suddenly flounder because of one player leaving given his track record. If someone wanted a Cig like basketball hire, that's your guy.

I didn’t say he would flounder. I just don’t want to watch it on a regular basis. Same with Bo Ryan at Wisconsin. That style is atrocious. Florida will be doing the world a great service by smacking Iowa.

Also, the idea that he will go grab the next Stirtz is not likely going to happen.  Not many D2 players can make that jump in a yearly basis and if that’s what he is hanging his hat on, then I think this year is the ceiling. They are rumored to have 2-4 million in NIL for next year. So he will continue to play slow methodical grind it out style to have a shot at winning games. Finish middle of the pack and when they make the tournament, they will get bounced the first weekend. Iowa had that in Fran with a much more entertaining style than this. Iowa fans are already complaining down the stretch about the team. But the NIL isn’t there for him to get the talent needed to play at a faster tempo regularly.

I have more faith in DeVries and Buzz Williams to figure it out at IU and Maryland with much greater resources than for McCollum to figure it out and be a top 5 Big Ten team.

McCollum isn’t the Cig like hire, Dusty May is.

More wishful thinking IMO. We will find out one way or another!

Reneau stepping up big time in the second half has me in shambles. The guy would have been such a monster this year

Happy to see it. Putting some of the emotional immaturity aside he seemed like nothing but a good kid.

This is pretty nuts: Utah St’s last 4 coaches are Craig Smith, who got fired at Utah but he’ll be back because he’s really good, Ryan Odom(Virginia), Danny Sprinkle(Washington) and now Calhoun. Man, if you’re ambitious you want to be the next dude there. That deal just keeps on workin’.

Another way of looking at it:

Only one of the last three coaches that has moved up from Utah State has succeeded.
