It’s not the size that was the problem it’s the person he got with size in the portal and amount of money spent on him. I guarantee none of those Illinois bigs are being paid what Bailey is getting paid.

Michigan and Illinois assembled tremendous rosters with size and shooting. Hard not to be jealous of what they have going on right now. Both with legit shots to win it all.

The irony of it, is I feel this years team is 1 good big away from being really good. We have 5 scholarships players on this team that provide little to no production. Imagine trading those players for 1 dynamite big.

IMO he has shown enough flashes for me to believe he can be a productive starter next year with a healthy and focused offseason. Just gotta get more consistency out of him.

We really need him, Miles and Sisley to take a big step this offseason. Finances get tricky quickly if you try to flip 5 or more roster spots IMO.

Welp. We're 17-9. 

On the verge of another season with double-digit losses -- our 10th in a row and 12th of 13. 

Wasn't really expecting anything different this season. Still -- it sucks. 

Can be tough on the hardcourt when you're at a football school!

Unfortunately though…. If you don’t get maybe 5 more guys capable of being starters we might be around the same level of talent next year but younger

I hope you mean that kids unhappy with their situation are having their representatives let coaches know they will be available.  I certainly hope IU coaches are not contacting players that are still playing on other teams.  I know it's the wild, wild, west, but I expect IU to follow the few rules that are still remaining.

Maybe... 4 is probably enough IMO. 3 is probably a similar year to this year unless two of the guys really develop shockingly well. But really, it's impossible to say without knowing the quality of portal additions.

I do think we can be reasonably confident money will be allocated better on next year's roster, with TDV and Bailey departing and having a core of players to retain rather than starting from scratch. Big offseason coming up.

Yeah, if we don't find size in the portal we should go scour the Euro leagues for big guys.  You can play European professionals now so why limit ourselves to just the portal?

2 will absolutely not be enough.  We barely have a player worthy of a starter spot returning. It will be a near full build.  Unless we are just trying to tread with a similar ceiling team. Which we absolutely might be doing.

We scoured Europe and signed two Euros. They turned out about as well as our other signings with the caveat they’re freshman. Other teams got quality starters out of Europe and apparently we were never in the market (maybe due to timing?) for that.
