TTT Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Dolson and credit Whitten (give Whitten much credit) made a lucky pulled rabbit out of the hat hire with Cignetti hire and Cignetti has made him and everyone else look like geniuses. However, basketball at IU is idiotic. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted January 17 Posted January 17 DeVries never invigorated the fanbase in the first place with this roster build. We were always a fringe tourney team at best with this roster. Part of me wonders if Dolson wanted him to try the “Cignetti” approach and get low major kids about the right things. Because that’s what he built. But 1, he isn’t Cignetti. And 2, you’ve gotta be an incredible scout and coach to make that work. I don’t think he’s either. Besides being a likeable basketball lifer he has no identity. pumpfake and ronzo4IU 2 Quote

Listen to some of their podcasts and you’ll find they have been complaining about playing too many bigs. They struggle vs teams that can play 5 out. They peaked too early. All complaints I’ve heard them say over the last week or so. Quote
Ryno6284 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Really sux we are probably going to see Dusty win a championship before we make the tourney again! Damn you Woody/Buckner! Quote

It would be a huge mistake if this continues next year and he doesn’t pivot. Not sure on the actual attendance today, but crowds have been sparse for several games the last few years. I think the basketball fan base has been dwindling for a while now. Quote
coonhounds Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Football is devries biggest friend right now. He is screwed if the fans ever care about watching decent basketball ever again. Alford Bailey and pumpfake 2 Quote
Unexpectedflash Posted January 17 Posted January 17 lol we’re @$$. Need a total revamp in player scouting from the portal. Most of the class has been a bust. I do have hope that when tucker is gone next year and we have someone actually worth tuckers NIL we’ll be better but ya not a very fun product to watch Home Jersey 1 Quote

Besides being a likeable basketball lifer he has no identity. This is a good post. First there is nobody else like Cig. He is a once in a lifetime coach imo. Enjoy it while he is here. I think you hit the nail on the head about the mid major type build. I’ve heard people talk about the way to win is to get old and stay old. I think that’s what they tried and did it with mid majors. Conerway and Wilkerson are hits imo. The rest are not. Dorn would be fine off the bench on a tournament team. Fix the roster build for next year and we could have something. It’s why I’m not giving up on DeVries yet. We can discuss this more as we go through the portal. I believe we were of similar opinions during the portal last spring. TTT Posted January 17 Posted January 17 In 3 years there may be a short shot that Josh Schertz is on St Louis bench…. But I highly doubt it….always hope. He is a winner and his teams are fun to watch. Just a different level of coach. Quote
Hoosier987 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Whoever looked at Reed Bailey and thought he could win games for us at Indiana needs to never recruit for us again. I’m serious…and I don’t blame Bailey for this, but what an abysmal evaluation Alford Bailey and str8baller 2 Quote

spe317 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 No matter how you feel, at least we don’t play on a sideway basketball court like Vanderbilt. pumpfake 1 Quote
