I read an article that David Anspaugh and Angelo Pizzo said it would be more suited for a documentary. They said for them to do a movie enough time would have to pass for that to happen for historical significance.

Yep.  Best case scenario is 8-9 years that’s how long between moneyball and the As.

I do expect an author to try and get a book out on this team asap before next season even.

Yeah, Pizzo was on Hoosier Hysterics and said it was too soon because we all just lived through the real events and everyone would focus on comparing the accuracy of a movie to the real thing instead of letting the filmmaker translate the story into art.

He also told this story which I'm going to share here because I love it and I have been looking for it for weeks:

Okay, this is this the contrast between Tom Allen and Coach Cig. I was told this and I don't know if it was in confidence or it was secondhand. This is going to be close to the truth if not exactly.

He was being shown around when he first--cause everything happened very quickly and he actually, you know, he made the deal before he actually ever got on campus. So they showed him his office and he went in and the office was pretty much cleaned out from Tom Allen, but there were there were some LEO stuff. I don't know if it was a poster or hat or something like that.

And coach said to this guy who was showing him around, he said, "Who's Leo? Who's this Leo guy?"

He said, "Oh, it's uh it it it was his big,"--you know, it's on all the lockers. "It it's like Love Each Other is like Tom Allen's mantra, so on and so forth."

Coach Cig looked at this guy and said, "I never want to see that again. Take it off the lockers."

Clearly like he didn't want to lead with that. like that's not the mantra of his culture.

. . .

But the loving each other is clearly happening at Indiana, but it's a result of hard work and accountability and holding each other to a high standard and all of the things that Cig wants to happen. If you do those things, you can't help but play for each other because, you know, so it's a result. You don't lead with that.

Makes sense.  I want this documentary so bad.  With all the storylines I think it has got to be like four or five one hour parts.  There is so much to cover.

Rudy came out in 1993.

Wow if I had watched it back then I wouldn’t have laughed out loud when the coach says they are contending for a national championship every year

Already got mine hanging in my office at home. Wall of champions - 1976 undefeated basketball national champions on left, 2026 undefeated football champions on right, 1981 and 1987 basketball natties in the middle.  1940 and 1953 was way before my time, but I did watch these four.

I see we both had the same excellent choice. I loved Mendozas dive but had to get the massive team picture for a group that was a great Team
