As much as I’m looking forward to this season’s group, it is hard not to be very excited if most of those pieces return and you add two (likely) McD AA’s to the mix for the 27-28 season!

Great job by the staff and DeVries.   DeVries in his 2nd full recruiting  cycle may have done something that hasn’t been done at IU in a long time if ever.  2 potential McDonalds all Americans in the same class.   After Hill went to Purdue some might have been down on DeVries for not getting the in state kid however he pulls an out of state top 12 recruit that chose IU over 2 programs that were in the Final 4 last year.   Heck of a start.  Now like every  year for the since forever the on the court results need to follow

Devries started late in the cycle for his first year, and his assistants started far, far later. He cobbled together a bunch of older players, many of whom he had a prior relationship with. He also made some evaluation mistakes about what would work in the B1G.

Now? His incoming class, both for the portal and freshmen looks substantially better, and his 2027 class looks like a very, very high impact group.

We are a big fish with a big budget.

I think it’s be a Derik queen situation. He’ll be able to leave and get drafted but may benefit staying one more year.

I tend to agree based off of athleticism alone but the skill factor and defense will be the difference. 

If he can be effective early with his skillset and make it work against like size and better athletes, and prove to be a good shooter that will set his ceiling.
