After settling into the idea that we have DD as our coach I think we'll be ok. I'm eager to see who the staff will be. I'm sure once we land our first portal recruit it will be one after another. We might be waiting until Alabama gets eliminated before our staff is announced though.

Idk Preston Murphy making 73 phone calls doesn’t seem like a guy who is leaving Alabama.

Who do you think our staff is going to be? I know they said Drew Adams who I’m just not really excited for if true

I really have no idea I’ve heard about 6-8 names but nothing for sure. DDV is keeping everything quiet.

It seems like a guy who is doing the work that will get him where he wants to be. If he has a lot of fish on the line he's that much more attractive to people who are willing to bump his pay, including the BoT of his current employer.

Where did the 73 calls story come from?

Imo, he is just going his job and that will pay off for Alabama or IU if he comes here.  If he were coming to IU for sure, he wouldn’t just stop working.  So, this doesn't indicate much to me if he is coming here or not.

Now, the raise probably reduces the chances he moves -- to what extent who knows.

Thanks.  I always assumed if he was the premier recruiter for Alabama, it would be hard to pull him away unless he is not an associate HC

I think Murphy is out since he signed an extension at Alabama this week. Sounds like Barnett is going to get the Oral Roberts job. Olstrom to Minny. So I'm going with Achoki Moikobu from Texas Tech, Drew Adams from Cincy, and I'm not sure who the 3rd will be. Just my own guess, so don't take it for more than that.

Was really excited about Preston Murphy.  That’ll be a bummer but it never really made a lot of sense either.   Need to get a few recruiting sharks.  Also our talent evaluation needs to be improved SO much.  Although. I suppose having a system in place would help matters.

Most likely scenario...an agreed upon retirement date was set. Any normal person would clean their stuff out the day the season ended. Woody being Woody means his stuff stays until the 11th hour and IU being No Hurt Feelings University means they don't ruffle feathers.

I don't know the details, but I do know how IU operates and the goofiest possible scenario is usually the most likely.

That should put to rest any of those posts about how Woodson should be revered for his playing days despite his failures as a HC. He is nothing more than a petty charlatan of a coach that schemed with Buckner to fleece his alma mater and doesn't give two sh*ts about the success of the program moving forward. I would put big money on a wager that his desire is for the next coach to fail miserably.

Moikobu seems to be a pretty fast riser.  Was with DeVries at Drake and served under mccasland at both north Texas and Texas tech.  Also served as Director of Recruiting under Bryce Drew at Grand Canyon.

What does a system have to do with talent evaluation. You just throw out fishing rods with bags of money and you keep the biggest fish that bite.

I am saying a few of our guys were better players than they looked with Woodson due to system, fit, coaching.

I was knocking our talent evaluation while acknowledging there were a multitude of problems.

Rice, Banks, maybe Carlyle, Tamar Bates.  Some others.

But our portal targeting besides the 5 spot was atrocious.

Talent evaluation, skill sets that compliment each other are what we sorely missed with the previous staff. And ffs... stop recruiting slow @$$ players. Can't stand it. Thankfully, DDVs one year at WVU should give us relief we will be playing open post moving forward.

Rice and Bates would have been much better with a better coach. Carlyle is awful. I think Banks found a good spot. The AAC is probably where his max talent level is u less he wants to be a role player.

Banks game resembles Okani, though. I think Banks/DeVries at your 3/4 would be dynamic.
