you think Vols fans were excited about Barnes at first?

I would hope so.  What Barnes did at Texas before he got ran out was really really  good.   Winning conference record almost every year. A couple conference titles. Made the tourney almost every year.   Final 4 run and another Elite 8 run.    I wanted Barnes when Sampson was hired.   High level college basketball coach.  Tennessee was lucky Texas fumbled that

My answer, per the title of the thread, is that "No", Mark Turgeron is not a coaching candidate. Now I can leave this thread forever lol

No, you may not!

Consider this your punishment for that thing you did with the garden rake and plate of nachos when you were 15. Ewww.

Step 1. Lose the press conference
Step 2. Lose a bunch of games
Step 3. Fire bad coach after 4 years (should've been done sooner)
Step 4. Repeat
We finally figured out the process.
We may as well take a risk of mccollum if bronwell and turgeon are guys we would hire.

Nah, not really up for debate. His worst Pom year other than year 1 at MD was 52. MW  was 91 last year. Not even close. W-L record is much less predictive of coaching performance than analytics rating.

“Slightly less worse than the guy you’re firing” is not a winning slogan.

Huh? No. That was not the point of the post.  His bad years are much, much less bad on average, and his good years are much better. And again, this was all with wayyyyy worse resources versus IU in the NIL world.

turgeon is very obviously much, much, much better coach than Woodson. He’s obviously a way better coach than Archie as well.

I believe Turgeon works with search firms as a consultant.

Mark Turgeon: "After looking around, having many conversations, and much deliberation based on your criteria, the only one I feel comfortable recommending is myself. You'll get my bill for the many hours spent on this soon."
