I absolutely hate reliving the chair toss, but ...

Sunday's game will come on its 40th anniversary.

Same place. Same opponent.

Coincidence, or some stealth scheduling by CBS? Thinking they knew this and planned this, because for the past several years, we've played at home first, then at PU -- but this season, it's reversed.

And how soon into the broadcast before it's brought up?

Indiana coach Bob Knight threw chair 36 years ago. I went to find it

I was there. 15 rows up behind Coach Knight when he threw the chair. First game I ever attended at AH.

2nd game I attended at AH was when Coach Knight pulled the team off the floor against the Soviets in an exhibition game.

Great memories.

We were sitting in the Phi Psi house on North Jordan looking at each other like what the heck did we just see.

I was there too. I think I was a sophomore. I remember thinking we were a lock guarantee to win that game when it happened. Couldn’t believe we didn’t!

Good times

I want to say Ted Valentine since the two have history but I may not be right.

One would automatically think of TV Teddy.  He was...ahem...controversial in his calls and making himself bigger than the game.

But no.

The year was 1985.  The Season on the Brink.

Purdue was at Assembly Hall.

Bob Knight was not happy with inconsistent travel calls.  So, he expressed his displeasure.

Phil Bova, Fred Jaspers, and London Bradley were the referees.  Bradley let Purdue get away with travels and called it on IU.

Reports of RMK throwing chairs in practice...or his plaid coat.

Knight got 3 Technicals in a row.  He was ejected.  Got a standing ovation from fans and a chant:  Bobby!  Bobby!

Purdue Coach Keady stated that he had been scared of what might happen after RMK left the floor.  The crowd was the loudest he had ever heard.

Bova, a retired Big Ten referee from Northeast Ohio, officiated many games with Knight. Bova said that Knight was the best basketball coach ever and that he intimidated many people. Bova wrote a book about his experiences called Throwing Back the Chair.

It's hard to type this with a straight face, but we apparently have 2 recruiting targets at the game today probably courtesy of Jordan Hulls' efforts.  '26 Justin Curry of Noblesville and '27 Davier White of Taylor Co., HS in Campbellsville, KY.  Curry has visited before; I'm not sure about White.

Curry averages 15.6 ppg;  6.1 rpg;  1.8 apg;  1.7 spg;  2.2 tpg     He's shooting 42% FG;  33% on 3s;  78% FT

White averages 18.9 ppg;  8.6 rpg        He's shooting 54% FG;  45% on 3s;  76% FT

I heard that if Woody's IU team does not beat Purdue at SSAH today...that Dolson is considering getting Woody to retire at the end of the season.

Has anyone else heard something similar?

I also heard that if the game is close at the end of regular play, that Coach Woody may just let our PG Miles Rice take the ball and with blinders on will make a last second shot towards the lights as he is flying towards the locker room.

And someone got into my stash...

I think chris was first with this? Hopefully his stevens intel is as spit on lol. Either way this doesent bode well for today. I think you have to be locked in to beat this purdue team today. This seems opposite of locked in!

It was a very good guess.

Although TV Teddy  didn’t officiate that game he caused Hoosier nation a lot of pain through the years.  I’ll never forgive him for the Duke debacle. Calbert etc got royally screwed.
