I don't think it was selfish. Just foolish.

He had been on the bench for 18-plus minutes and we had hot hands in Gallo and Bako. There was plenty of time left ... and on a final possession like that, I wanna see at least one pass. Not one guy just taking the ball upcourt and launching.

For sure. It would have been much better to have gotten the ball to Galloway with hopes that he could get downhill. But Goode passed it on to Rice on the move up court and Gallo was out of the play on the other side of the court at that point.

Goode made it Rice’s play to make, and Rice didn’t make the play.

I understand where you’re coming from, but he immediately sprinted wide and drove fast as he often does when he’s looking to score. He hadn’t to that point, so he shouldn’t have been allowed. That’s coaching, or lack thereof. I would have liked to have seen a true last second shot that had some play development instead of that.

They should be practicing this scenario in practice every day.  The last two games have me wondering what they've been told to do.

For anyone that’s wondering about a foul on Rice? Two screen shots:

1. The tenth of a second before the shot was released:

2. The tenth of a second after the shot was released:

Not a foul.

Are you a Purdue???

No contact on the arms.

Harris is straight up and doesn’t slap down. Rice’s momentum takes Rice’s body into Harris after the shot is released.

Rice elevated and was shooting above Harris. Harris went fairly straight up, yes, but directly into the arms of a guy taking a jump shot. It's a foul. It was just kind of an awkward one, and the road team is not going to get the benefit of the doubt in that situation.

Only coaching in that game came from Pork Chop. I didn’t see $hit from Woody or any of the rest.  What we got tonight came from a group of guys who wanted to win.  Not ones worrying about the color of their friggin fingernail polish.

Agree. Have to have Indiana guys

While I agree, I want to add who knows if kids these days even realize what that means? Ok, fine, so be it. Understand what those character traits are and find them. Do people realize that’s exactly what Painter does? Then you sell them on that idea and what Indiana means. You get that buy in, which breeds accountability. Then, next thing you know, the whole team embodies that idea. The leadership at Indiana currently is a joke.

Good God, the defender is entitled to his space straight up, it's not a foul if the shooter moves into the stationary defender to create contact. The whiny blaming of the refs is embarrassing.

Who is blaming the refs or whining? It's a tough call, one of many in a close game. Sucks but that's how it goes.

Though Rice didn't play all that well tonight, I thought it would've made sense to use him to spell Leal for maybe 4-5 minutes in the second half.

Leal made some solid contributions tonight, but could not keep up with Smith and also had trouble with his defense when he was bringing the ball upcourt.

Bringing Rice in that cold that late in the game had disaster written all over it.

For all the offseason hoopla about rice and Carlyle, they sure are underwhelming. They give us just short of nothing.

Yup. Super disappointing.

Today we got a net negative from Rice... he's not even close to Smith. Couldn't hang.

20 mins, 0-4 FG, 0 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 TOs.
