I understand where you’re coming from, but he immediately sprinted wide and drove fast as he often does when he’s looking to score. He hadn’t to that point, so he shouldn’t have been allowed. That’s coaching, or lack thereof. I would have liked to have seen a true last second shot that had some play development instead of that.

He hadn't scored a damn point.  Sometimes you have to recognize that it's not your game and it's time to get it elsewhere.  I trust Gallo there much more because if he gets close and the shot isn't there he at least looks to pass.

Myles Rice right now is a point guard who doesn't pass the ball.

This is a level of awareness the coach and point guard do not have. Painter said they were fortunate Galloway didn’t have the ball in his hands, and he’s right because of what you said.

It’s a top-down failure at IU. Instead of playing the blame game, I hope the entire culture is changed. Mike was supposed to bridge the gap to our roots so we could flourish anew. Yikes.

I mean Rice was super selfish…

The mouthful Rice got was warranted by my account. I keep asking myself how you can possibly decide you’re the one to take the last shot when you did nothing (absolutely nothing!) for the entirety of the game and your teammates who fought their tails off to put you in that spot and contributed are beside you? If it was me, I recognize I’m not having a great game and I’m feeding my teammates like a point is supposed to do.

The commandment that IU Shall Not Keep or Sustain a Lead needs purged for perpetuity.

We cannot have nice things until the round table convenes and takes ACTION to strike it from the rolls.

I don’t know the statistic, but we’ve had a plethora of squandered leads.

Enough already!

Regardless….. GO HOOSIERS!

Ballo did go after Rice…verbally. In the heat of competition, you must be ready for it all. Ballo certainly gave Rice his. https://x.com/joe_cronin03/status/1885542049086095607?s=46&t=AnGlZsb2hQqJCetbi3nDTg

Kind of glad somebody did.  That was a case of knowing the situation.  He should have been the fifth option on the last shot tonight, not #1.

Yeah, that was another throwing shade at the IU staff from Painter.  He isn't wrong but he finds a way to needle doesn't he?

The silver lining to losses that would usually really irritate me is that each one should be another nail in Woodson's tenure here.  This was no moral victory.  This was one of those games that shows just how much Woodson holds the team back.  They can play with a fire under their butt when properly motivated.  They do have the pieces to be in a game down to the last second with a supposedly top 10 team on their own floor.  This team that everybody going into the season thought was a Top 15 to 20 squad has deficiencies that all point back to one thing:  Mr. NBA has gotta go.

So yet another loss in the long list of losses over the past 2 decades.  Our only hope is that when we once again pull the plug on another bad idea is that Dolson can tell all the other hangers on around the program to sit down and STFU.  You guys got your wish and it was a failure.  Then he needs to pick a guy who is able to come in and own the program like Cignetti came in and took over football.  "That's nice Ferguson, tell your boys to give their money to Hoosiers Connect and then stay the ---- out of my way."  That is what we need.

Matt Painter: "We were fortunate there at the end Trey Galloway doesn't have the ball in his hands. Let's be frank about it -- because he was making plays. He doesn't have the ball at the end, and we were able to get a stop."

Yep.

That's why you call a timeout. I guess you could say it was a selfish move by Rice, but I think it was more just foolish. He panicked.

I keep seeing on other social media -- "Well, Bob Knight never called timeout in those situations." Please -- this is so far from a RMK-coached team, it's not even funny. It's true that Knight didn't call timeouts in situations like that because he didn't want to allow the defense to set up --- but also because his team had been well-drilled and knew what to do. Last night, Rice had no idea what to do.

I don't have confidence that Woody would've known what to do, either, but the way the game was going last night -- I think maybe Gallo would've figured it out. Once Rice got the ball, he just put his head down, dribbled up court and sorta just went blank. Woody shoulda had enough awareness to get that stopped (with a TO) before it went off the rails like it did.

How is everyone feeling on this beautiful morning after a huge road moral victory? The new indiana basketball! We gave effort and lost a good hard fought game for once! Limit the turnovers and this was ours! Really feels good. Hopefully we can play hard at wisconsin. If we can lose that by 3 or less I will probably call in sick from work for partying all night!
