I don't have an opinion on either QB's, but it is notable that CCC is following five portal entrants on X - 3 WR's, 1 RB (TJ Harden from UCLA), and 1 QB (Miller Moss from USC.) In the '23 Transfer Portal CCC's social media follows were a fairly solid barometer for visits/commitments.

Outside of the USC staff, Moss is following staffers from three schools - CCC, Venables from Oklahoma, and a staffer from Illinois.

Trayvon Rudolph from NIU

Makai Jackson from App St.

There is a clear prototype that the staff seems to be targeting.

We definitely need to bring in a portal quarterback to compete for the starting job. I trust Coach Cig completely, so I’m sure that’s the plan. I honestly feel like a lot of the love for TJ is because his brother is TJD. TJ was decent in the Washington game, but he hasn’t shown anything that suggests he’s the guy who can lead a team to the playoff.

Cig made an important point in his presser today...guys on teams with a fired coach or who have graduated can enter the portal, but it doesn't open for underclassmen til Monday. So Monday is when things will really start popping off.

^^ That being said, Cig is following TJ Harden from UCLA. Has ran for about 1,300 yards over the last two seasons. Big, physical guy. Has some freak tendencies.

I think they will bring in a QB from Tre portal but if they don’t it will be because the staff has seen from the quarterbacks day in and day out and believe in them.

What are the odds of getting some surprise flips or highly desirable portal players joining IU? I know the portal opens Monday, I wonder who Coach Cignetti will be looking for a potential QB? This is always a fun time!!

Lots of the comments seem to be taking this as TJ is leaving but I don’t take it that way at all. He was discussing the incoming freshman class, right? And he specifically said he didn’t feel the need for a freshman QB, likely b/c we have 2 young QBs to develop already in the roster. 
 

He’ll get another QB from the portal to compete with TJ for the starting role, just like this year.
