Transferred UP into the Sun Belt and started from day 1. Huh, don’t hear that one every day. Looks like he had the best game of his career against Cig/JMU in ‘23. 26-36 for 277 with 2 td’s no picks. So the staff and a bunch of the JMU kids have certainly seen him up close. Got hurt midway through the season and his back up played very well and won the job going forward. Smart move by the staff to get a solid back up with tons of experience. lillurk and Demo 2 Quote
FootballSchool Posted January 4 Posted January 4 (edited) The old dominion qb has two years of eligibility left. If Mendoza has nfl tools we could be looking at the next two years of IU football Edited January 4 by FootballSchool Quote

Benson was a LT here in ‘23 and a RT at CU, correct? I seem to recall him looking the part but struggling a fair amount. Am I remembering him wrong? Regardless, if Bostad’s good with working with him again, that’s good enough. lillurk 1 Quote

He got injured and played only 9 games there. It looks like he allowed 2 sacks, 1 QB hit, 3 hurries on 405 snaps. 66.7 PFF grade. Demo 1 Quote

He’s a swing tackle but would guess he’s playing guard next year. lillurk and Demo 2 Quote

There’s the answer to a couple debates, IU needed a backup qb and found one! Pretty much a sign that Cherry is out for the season. MemphisHoosier and lillurk 2 Quote

Jeff Flabjohns Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Awesome. This is all I was asking for, a vet who has logged starts somewhere and can fill the backup role. thebigweave, CSP, Demo and 2 others 5 Quote

mamasa Posted January 4 Posted January 4 I don’t follow football transfers/portal nearly as much as a lot of you- is it pretty unusual for a player to transfer back to their original school? I mean, nobody would’ve transferred back to IU football in the past few years, but…. Artie86 1 Quote

I do not know how common it is, but it's common enough that I've head them called "boomerang transfers". mamasa and Artie86 1 1 Quote
