We owe them for the 69-17 beat down in 1978. I think we were undefeated at the time. A total waste of my Saturday afternoon.

I was also there.

It was raining, a lot.

The game was on national TV back when it was a really big deal.

We were a popular upset pick among the media.

I don’t remember much, students also enjoyed themselves back then..LOL, but do remember that on EVERY play our OL and our DL was absolutely blown off the line by 5+ yards. It was a joke of a mis-match in the trenches.

It was a bad game but I’m sure the Bluebird, Peanut Barrel and/or a Walnut Knolls party cured my disappointment.

On his Sunday show Corso said he looked at the other side of the field and stated that  even their warmups were better than ours (his comedy routine probably bought him an extra year or two).

It’s only taken 46 years but we are getting sweet, sweet revenge this year.

WTF…time flies.

I’m not really sure what it means, since we beat both teams, but Northwestern is destroying MD at MD 37-10.

Back in the day we probably would have lost to MD and at NW.

I watched some of their game. It means that Maryland is a talented , sloppy, turnover-prone mess, and that Coach Locksley is on very thin ice.

It just means what we already knew: IU hasn't beat a good team yet. Thankfully, they have taken care of business and beat each of them handily. The Nebraska game will be the first good team and I think IU gets it done.

Also confirmed that the Northwestern QB is pretty good. It may never be as pretty as some of the throws Roarke can make, but that kid makes plays and competes his a$$ off. I’m a fan.

I actually think that Northwestern is pretty solid now that Lausch is at quarterback and RB Porter is back.

They always had a good defense and they are disciplined. That coach won against all expectations last year-no fluke

I would say their offensive line seemed pretty solid as well.

^^^this, and he’s deceptively mobile too.

Gotta say I like Bryce Kirtz (Brownsburg kid) as well.  If he wasn't already a grad student I'd want our staff to be on him for potential transfer portal add.

Kinda interesting and I kinda like IU and Nebraska both, playing after a bye week….

My thoughts are IU seems to have more finesse, speed, play options along with enough strength to make a variety of plays on offense that will challenge Nebraska to keep up with.  IU needs to have 0 turnovers or at least make sure to not have 2 or 3.
IU defense will be solid…but still looking for a couple turnovers for IU defense vs Nebraska.

Very talented QB for Nebraska is a freshman.

Not sure if he’s played in hostile environment yet.

Nebraska’s one road game was at already-apathetic Ross-Ade and was an absolute s**tfest rock fight until Nebraska opened it up late. They haven’t seen an offense like ours yet, but I have a sense that it’ll be kind of a shootout. Our next 2 matchups will be a great measuring stick for the really tough stretch at the end.

Ah, the old Peanut Barrel. $2.50 drink and drown on Friday nights!  And dime beers at the Bird on Wednesday nights.

IU up 2 to 18th in the Coaches Poll and up 2 to 16th in the AP Poll

I still have very little faith that they can make it into the playoff with 1 loss, but seeing them ahead of 2-loss Ole Miss in the AP poll is mildly encouraging.
