Washington will be yet another game against a team coming off its bye week. The B1G really tried to stick it to IU this year. Too bad for them the Hoosiers keep winning regardless.

UCLA

Northwestern

Nebraska

Washington

That'll be 4 out of 5 B1G games against teams coming off their bye. Obviously,  IU had a bye before Nebraska.

I get your point about teams having a bye week but, rather than the Big Ten “sticking it” to IU with scheduling, I think they gave us a 1 in a million dream schedule. And we “deserve” this schedule after years in the East.

There are 4 other BT teams in the top 25. We only play one of them.  Our home and away schedule was almost perfectly put together.  I’d take something similar every year in a heartbeat.

13th in the new AP Poll too

That’s a little bit better than the pre-season BT conference (conference, not national) predictions of 17th or 18th !!!!!

Fortunately for us the game is at 9 am PT.

I get the Big Ten wanting to make a spectacle of these schools joining with all of these cross country matchups, but after the 2025 season they really should make sure the four pacific schools are playing each other every year (unless the schools vote the idea down).

That was more luck for IU than planning by the B1G. Michigan are the defending national champs and were highly ranked (top 10) before the season. Washington were the runners up and, while they weren't ranked, are usually a good team that could've ended up ranked, especially when gifted win by playing IU.

IU just dropped a release that Rourke is out “indefinitely” but is “expected to return in 2024.” It could just be general injury wording, but on the surface it is not comforting.

That likely means broken/fractured

Agree to disagree.

We didn’t get Oregon or Penn State.

5 Big Ten home games.

We got what we thought might be “toss up” games like Maryland, Nebraska and Washington (lost their coach and half their team) at home while going to Northwestern and UCLA.

Many thought UM would be down (albeit not to this extent) and we got them at home.

Compared to the many years in which we started against OSU, at Iowa etc this was a gift.

West coast teams going east should get 3:30 or later games

EST teams going west should get 3:30 or earlier games.

It shouldn’t be that difficult for the BT (or their TV bosses) to figure that out.

That’s a shame if it is, but we have a backup who isn’t inexperienced or a freshman.  The staff will put him in the best position to succeed.  LFG!

1) I acknowledged he played well. In fact he should've been 8-8 had Coby not dropped the last one.

2) The larger point being that he came into a no pressure situation and was getting tons of help from defense and the run game.

I think he's a good QB but I also wonder if he'll be able to run this offense in the same efficient manner that Rourke does when it's 0-0 or if trailing.

I like TJ a lot but don't think he can do the things that KR can do. Rourke is an elite qb in my opinion. He just makes it look so easy. CCC has said that TJ lacks consistency and is Rourke's strength. This might put more pressure on the defense.

Not having Rourke is a huge loss.

Washington

@ MSU

Michigan

Bye week

Asking myself if TJ can do enough to beat those three teams with the team focused on rallying around him? He will do it in a different way than KR, but my answer to that question is yes. With a reasonable amount of certainty too… it won’t be easy but far from impossible. First true adversity for the team. They overcome that and get KR back after the bye week before OSU? I may still be drunk from yesterday’s win but I’m convinced that’s how it’ll happen. Lol

I agree.

Not a shot at TJ but the experience of a guy that has completed 773 passes, vs 93, is just a lot to overcome. Plus the quick decision making, reading/understanding the defense and KR seemingly has a make-up that doesn’t get rattled.

Hopefully KR is ready to go at MSU. I’m very glad we have TJ but it would be comforting to see Rourke go on the field against 80,000 hostile fans.

Who knows, maybe TJ will turn into Lou Gehrig and never give up the starting position after Saturday.

That's the thing about Rourke, he sees the defense and makes the exactly the right decision, very quickly. And he does as if he has all the time in the world. He is the perfect complement to our coach. Calm and collected at all times. I hope that enough of that has rubbed off on Jackson that he can do what we need to continue our success. I'm sure CCC will do everything needed to make him successful. I've just become really comfortable with Rourke leading one of the best offenses in the country. Gus Johnson suggested that Rourke should be in the Heisman discussion. I'm not going to argue.

And maybe EVERYONE steps up…not just TJ…but the entire offense, the entire defense, special teams…and the coaches.  That’s what we need…and what Coach Cignetti will demand.  And while we may not score 48 points per game…we’ll score enough to win.  LFG!  Go Hoosiers!
