Is this the year some of you realize it and treat them like the mediocre program they are or just going to still hold out hope and think they are relevant in college basketball? I hear the football program is rolling though. Since when has Iowa, Illinois, St.John, Iowa St., Arkansas, Alabama etc.. been a thing until they got a good coach and some financial backing? Home Jersey Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I don't think the ITH preview is particularly meaningful considering no mention of a visit and the do not contact tag and they just profiled Estrella yesterday. Would love to eat crow about that in this case, though. Alford Bailey, Stuhoo, Pagoda and 1 other 4 Quote

What’s Michigan State planning to do? They don’t usually spend huge in the portal. They’d be the obvious choice otherwise. Michigan st has Ethan Taylor coming in but not much at center after that. Who knows if they can afford whatever Sherrells price tags is with Carr, Jordan Scott, cam ward, and fears all coming back Quote
Alford Bailey Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Sherrill has a do not contact tag. I believe that means he would have to reach out to us. Quote

But if the kid came in with the mindset that Wilkerson brought last year to earn every penny I’d be down. He’s a really good player and a really good system fit. Quote

Wouldn’t that be a swift kick. That or Michigan State. ITH posting that article with that timing won’t help matters when it ends up being a Michigan school. Let’s pay bank to the Cincinnati Center. ronzo4IU and ebridges24 2 Quote

Prove system works. Provide value. We did none of that because we wanted to save a few million. Now the job is infinitely harder. And we will do it again. We might have more talent on paper but we won’t step up a level enough to make an impact. It’s not that hard to figure out. If the NIL donations aren't there, it doesn't matter whether the AD wants to save money or not. You can't spend what you don't have. In hindsight, any NIL advantage we once had appears to have dried up once Woody was forced out. We really needed to ramp NIL up during DDV's first couple years to lay a foundation, but I'm guessing the $$ for a UK level $18-22 million budget just wasn't there. skhoosier2 1 Quote

Yea, though I do think NIL is a net benefit for us... even though we haven't figured out how to use it well yet. If we have ~$12.5-14M for IUBB and that's #10-15 in the country and that's not enough to make the tourney and start building a program... we've got the wrong staff and we're toast even if we had more. Our national title football team has a roster this upcoming season probably around #10 in the country. We've only got so much money at IU like you said, unless there is a money tree in the Arboretum I don't know about. skhoosier2 and IU Prof 2 Quote

No revelation, but isn’t that why our athletic director finally got to have his choice and pay a coach millions of dollars to navigate through that? We have a major brand after all. Quote
