Better the guards are> deeper March runs made> more eyeballs on the program > bring in even better players..

good guards are worth it IMO...

All positions are important. This final 4 is packed with exceptional big men

Over pay him only means one thing. Pay him more than he is worth. Not a good business plan.

Semantics.

Paying him a whole lot isn’t necessarily “overpaying” if paying him a relatively large portion of the budget is a good use of the budget.

Very few of these guys are actually worth what they’re being paid. A guy like Cupps is allegedly getting paid $600k. He’s “worth” a scholarship and board, imo. But in this anything goes landscape a player is worth whatever a school is willing to pay, and some schools are willing to pay basically anything to win.

We're not running a business. We're trying to win basketball games. Being relevant in year 1 with a new staff is incredibly valuable (see Mich/UL). I don't have a problem paying above market rate if it means we're playing in the second weekend next March.

You’re kidding yourself if you don’t think P5 basketball isn’t a business

The last 4 years wasn’t run like a business. That is the results you end up with.

Not in the sense that it's trying to return a profit for its investors. The investors (boosters), not the athletic department, are the ones who would be paying the most for players. For them, the return is winning games.

I am well aware how an athletic department is run. Paying a talented guard a few hundred K more than market value doesn't move a needle. Some of you guys will argue semantics in your grave.

Yep, the offense should be great. I’ve always said shooting translates and it will. Off ball movement that lacked so horribly from Woodson’s teams will be back with a vengeance. Can also play 5 out with Bailey which is unique.

Can Tucker not guard a 3? Asking because it seems the Bailey kid would be a perfect 4 and we definitely need rim protection at the 5.

Not effectively for any extended amount of time. He lacks lateral quickness and just quickness in general.
