WayneFleekHoosier Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 Staff gonna let Ballo leave campus without a commitment? Is he going to get the Ware treatment? Sent from my iPad using BtownBannersThe free throw shooting will drive us bonkers, but the offensive rebounding is something I’ve begged for. I’m not totally sure where the shooting is coming from yet. Rice is iffy. As is Carlyle. MM should be able to fill it up, but the shooting is going to haunt me till the end. Rice was worse for his 3pt shooting though between the two. If Rice puts up the same numbers or slightly better and ups his 3pt % to say 35%ish it is fair to say he may only be in Indiana for one year depending how the season go. @realTomCrean told me that Rice plays PG and passes like Magic, shoots it like Steph, and plays defense like Gary Payton. I just put in for my final four tickets. I'm fixing a special BBq sauce for my crow, going to wash it down with some red wine, and just made a tee time for the weekend. Also just dug out my We're Back t-shirt and wearing it the rest of the night. IUFAN1976, 94Bulldog, Silat Player and 6 others 2 7 Quote

We would be better off letting Gallo be point and getting in some actual shooters rather than a so-so point who can't shoot very well. IMO. He was a Freshman, I would expect his numbers would increase his sophomore year. I could see his assists go up to at least 4 and his turnovers decrease to 2 while shooting at least 32% or higher from 3. Would those numbers be satisfactory for a sophomore point guard? I’m not say this is going to happen but most freshman players improve some during their sophomore year. I could see us landing Rice, Carlyle, Hickman and either Ballo/Payne. Quote

Was Pac12 Freshman of the year, so there is that. We are handing out hundreds of thousands of dollars to players and I'd just hope we would try for someone who shoots better than 27% from 3pt, seeing as how we were essentially the worst 3pt shooting team in the country last year. But then again, Woody is our coach so it shouldn't be surprising. Quote

We're all just speculating, doesn't cost anything. I'm not that excited about Rice & Carlyle, but others seem to be. I will be a little surprised if IU signs 3 incoming guards though. That would be 7 on the roster (3 new, Galloway, Cupps, Newton & Leal.) Could be a good thing though, depending who they are. Ballo is definitely a presence....but man his game is ugly and that FT shooting will give me an ulcer. Adillac and Chris007 1 1 Quote

I guess a fair question to ask would be, "Will his numbers improve the 'typical' amount for a Sophomore when changing from one team to another?" Sure. You typically see the most growth in most players from Frosh to Soph years due to them getting used to the speed of the college game, strength of the players, hitting the weight room themselves, etc... But, also part of that is also getting acclimated to the off/def system of the college team that they're on. Changing teams/coaches might affect that. I'm not sure that a Soph Rice should be expected to see such a large jump in his shooting percentage, especially early in the season. Need to hold back some of that sweet sweet money for more shooters... Quote
dwtaylor1055 Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 Did we just get a commitment before an actual visit? Quote

It is not the analyze realTomCrean thread. I suggest you move forums with your reply. Quote
