So how realistic is it that we get a commitment from Moustapha Thiam? He is clearly the best center out there by far. Apparently Cincinnati is going to hire his mentor and assistant coach Mamadou N'diaye but they haven't done it yet. I just checked their staff on line and he is not listed and is still showing on the UCF staff. He is from Senegal as is Thiam and has recruited several kids from that area to UCF. Would he be a bad hire to round out our staff and get Thiam on board? Seems to be good at developing big guys and has a pipeline to additional African prospects. What's not to like? Hire him and throw a large bag at Thiam and let's go! Would so enjoy seeing Thiam rejecting TKR and Jacobson.

Does IU have any interest in Hawthorne? I live in UK country, and so I know they're going after him, but I'm surprised not to see IU since he was a WVU commit.

Even though IU was mentioned in his new list of finalists a couple of weeks back, the fact that they’re in hard on Freeman, who’s a really similar player, but not from all indications in on Hawthorne at all would seem to be the tip-off.
Now watch him announce an IU visit in an hour or so.

I figured we were probably on the outside, just seems odd. Seems like a good prospect, and it would be nice to get a few younger guys that can develop.

My guess is that being close to home and/or an existing relationship with Chester Frazier is about the biggest thing for Hawthorne’s decision. So VT, WVU, Pitt, and DMV schools may all be reasonable places for him to consider depending.

That's a good use of an extra roster spot. Like bringing in some developmental players.

Yup. Limited minutes for a coach who notoriously doesn’t like playing freshman and then got hurt. If you like his talent it’s a chance to steal a kid. Ok by me.

Stinks but kinda figured, good news is this team has a lot of wings currently.

I agree.  Probably a luxury, but would've loved the potential of him after this year.
