Simply not true. His ability to stretch the defense, to honor him from the 3pt line....

Absolutely makes others better.

He's similar to Hulls. Both aren't PGs, but can distribute... Pack had 300+ career assts through 4 seasons (even with a shortened FR year).. and last season was avg 4.3 assts with 3+ A/T ratio all the while shooting 40.3% from 3 for his career on 6+ 3pt FGs per game.

eFG% 54.1 83% FT

I’ve acknowledged his ability to shoot the basketball, it’s elite. He doesn’t defend or do anything else that contributes to winning basketball. He’s been in college 5 years and teams he’s played on have had losing records in 4 of those 5 seasons. The ACC has been historically awful the last two seasons with Miami being the worst of the bunch. He’s essentially ended the careers of two highly respected coaches. A 5’10 2 guard being forced to play point who doesn’t defend doesn’t excite me. Forgive me.

The Hulls comparison is a fair one, although Hulls worked because of the length and athleticism around him. We don’t appear to be heading in that direction however. I believe we’ll have a team next year that resembles some of the better Iowa teams under Fran; an elite shooting team that can hang 90 on any one on any given night but also a team with a low ceiling due to the inability to guard any one. I’m not sure how anyone who watched either of the F4 games last night could think that a lineup that features Pack, DeVries, and Bailey could compete not only physically but athletically with those types of teams?

"Or contribute to winning basketball" false. His ability to shoot does that..... there's has to be an element of "who can you get"..

Bailey is a damn good athlete btw. DDV is a better defensive coach than Fran.

he had Harris/Okani/andre/Hansberry last season... Pack fills Stones role, whatever that would have been.

He’s 70-68 as a collegiate basketball player (and would be far worse had he not shut it down after 9 games last season) buoyed by a 29-8 record as the 4th best player on a Miami team that reached the F4. That 29-8 Miami team had high level athletes all over the court protecting him…next years IU’s team doesn’t appear to have any resemblance of that Miami team.

I'm not all in on Pack, but if our first 4 portals are Pack, Bailey, Enright, and DeVries... that's pretty good start.

Especially since that means we have more $$$$ still with the possibility of having Goode

In regards to the SG:

Seeing how Sencire Harris responded, with 4 laughing emoji’s, to a DD interview regarding why he chose to move to IU, I believe there is a very small probability he will follow his coach to IU.

That’s why I said a “Harris type”, I know he’s not coming. But we need a strong guard/wing defender to balance that lineup IMO.

Reed had some nice games vs P4 teams. He had 18,11, and 4 vs Providence and 19 and 5 vs Gonzaga in the Bahamas. I’m sure CDD probably saw a little bit in person which is cool .

side note can’t wait till the WVU fans weave this into greater IU tampering conspiracy theory LOL

Yes my error, about missing “type”, as has been pointed out 4 times…:)

That being said….while I agree with having a strong defender, ie like a Harris Type, I still don’t want a 2G that shot 11% from the three last year. Some guys can defend and shoot from the three. We need 2G’s that open up the floor due to being perimeter threats..

You continue to repeat this stuff. It’s my experience that basketball is a team game, with 5 guys on the floor and a total of anywhere from 12-15 players on the team. How someone can attribute a team’s performance to any one individual is not looking at the dynamics of the entire team—players, coaches, staff.

He’s the common denominator lol. K-State went to the E8 two years before Pack arrived and won the B12 the season before he got there. He transferred and Bruce Weber got fired and K-State immediately went back to the E8. He joined a good Miami team that went to the F4 his first season and the talent surrounding him either graduated or went pro and Miami immediately became one of the worst P5 teams in the country with Pack running the show.

So.. 4.3 APG and 40%+ 3pt % does NOT contribute to winning?

If he's your 4th/5th best player, as we saw at Miami, your team has a chance to be really good... he'd be, at best, our 3rd best player currently.

Buckle up. Rice is another one who was crap at IU (albeit with little to no coaching), only to go to another B1G school and sticks it to us twice a year...

I’ll never be overly concerned with a Buzz Williams coached team. Tough and scrappy but emphasizes athleticism over actual skill. Watched it for years at Marquette and nothing has changed since.

Oh, I’d prefer a 3&D guy if we can land one, I was just trying to call out that currently as constructed, that starting lineup would look to be weak on the defensive end, and I think focusing on fixing that would take priority over just having 2 more guys who are more oriented towards offense. There’s only one ball and all that.

Will be curious to see if Bailey plays more at the 4 or 5. Obviously he’d be great on the offensive end as a stretch 5/playmaker but I don’t think he’s anything resembling a rim protector.

With proper offensive spacing, Rice would be an absolute menace. Gets downhill with ease. Just needs a coach to tell him to stop shooting that damn midrange jumper all the time, get to the rim or pass it.

Unless you can get an Isaiah Wong level combo guard, he’s going to be the PG next year. Pack is 41-60 as a starter while being a lead guard.
