The longer it goes the better I feel.  Still feel it's like 70/30 in favor of Illinois (based on almost nothing)

Isn’t the reason ppl are saying Illinois is bc it’s closer to home and some family issues he wants to be close to home for?

Somebody making $2million per year isn’t worried about being either a 7 or 9.5 hour drive from home. They’re flying and, assuming being closer to home isn’t just an internet-created cop out, he’s closer to a real airport at IU.

I’m assuming he’d have access to an emergency plane at either school’s local airport anyway.

I think it's going to depend on the player. In this case, maybe there's a feeling of security being within a certain distance to home versus being further away? We have no idea what his comfort level is.

In a larger sense, I think it's a lot harder for us fans to decipher why some of players choose one team over another. It's not always just the bag or the coach or any factor that we even know about.

Look at someone like Reneau. He got offers at a lot of schools. He decided to go home. That seemed obvious. Ok.

There was a backstory about Conwell's family being from L'ville and him having spent time there, and having been recruited by them the previous year. We didn't know that when he first committed there.

Now we're hearing the story about Dix's sick relative. How many things are going on behind the scenes of that recruitment that are deciding where he goes?

I think this is true of a lot of these recruitments.

I agree with this. My larger point was that I doubt the true distance from home is playing that much of a factor.

So some dude nobody has heard of, playing D2, is found by our new guy.  Comes to campus, etc. all under the radar.  Has 3 years left.  That is a coach who is grinding.  :)

Many high-major programs know about him and are actively pursuing him.

Getting him on campus? That was excellent.

Maybe, but they’ll have to stay affiliated with the schools. No one cares about semiprofessional leagues. If they aren’t affiliated with the schools then popularity would plummet.

Yeah absolutely. I don’t know how it would work with nonrevenue sports but I guess they could just stay the same as they are.

There was early chatter about Creighton for that reason. Then the school visits started popping up and he's been quite a few places. I wish we could've gotten some traction with Isaac McNeely. Perhaps with Conwell going to Louisville that might change.

I'm not sure, but I thought I read it was his mom that wasn't well. My mother would tell me "son if you turn down a million more dollars to be 1000 miles closer to me ill slap the 5h7t out of you."

I'm trying to wrap my mind around a defense influenced by Achoki Moikobu and an offense by Preston Murphy with Dix, DeVries and potentially Goode on the floor in any combination.
