fwgreenway Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 Ok. Time to STOP seeing anything like this as anything other than IU continually shooting themselves in the foot! It's potentially going to be a very rough ride - kind of like the movie ground hog day! Quote

Bowhunter Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 I don’t care to say it. That’s why Liam waited to see if Woody was let go and we hired Dusty before decommitting. IH8PU, Banksyrules, WayneFleekHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote

I wouldn't get too far ahead of him going to Michigan. It's an ultra Michigan guy tweeting it. I'll wait until someone important like Trilly, Ant Wright, or OF COURSE Tyme tweets about it. Quote

I just prefer not to dwell on the fact that he bolted especially after getting another recruit who may or may not be better but has a lot of upside as well. Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 15 minutes ago, Bowhunter said: Are they important lol Ant Wright is. But him saying that Liam McNeely is a major target for Michigan isn't the same as the Michigan follower tweeting that they are 'major players' for him. Just because a school is targeting a player hard doesn't make them a major player, although I will say McNeeley said that Dusty May told him that he was his first call from Michigan as a recruiter and that it 'meant something to him', for whatever what that is worth. Tyme is a former poster from him (Ngw). He thinks that he knows more than he does and when challenged on it gets incredibly defensive. Very abrasive, know it all individual. But in the tweet above, I would say his assessment is correct. Michigan has had trouble getting transfers in (unless they are grad transfers) because of their undergrad transfer policies. They have lagged behind the big boys in NIL. In terms of his assessment of McNeely, I agree that he didn't look all that good in the McDonald's AA scrimmage and game, but I wouldn't hold as much weight to it as he would. If the McDonald's scrimmage and game hold true, then Derik Queen is probably the best player in the class and Cooper Flagg might struggle some. But if Michigan hasn't improved their NIL situation, $750,000 on McNeeley would be too much allocated to a freshman shooter. Quote

Ke'lel Ware really struggled at Oregon his freshman year and got guarantees everywhere he visited in the portal of getting at least $500K for his sophomore year. If it is truly $750K for two years and not one, I think Michigan can swing that. But others will guarantee more than that. lillurk 1 Quote

Prior to this year P5 starters estimated to be 150-200k. Ware, I believe was 500+, but he’s a 7’1 McDonald AA center. But he was also near top of class. McNeely was 10-20 ranked and a SF. I believe the 2 year; $750k figure. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app lillurk 1 Quote

Not saying the two years, $750 isn't accurate just that I haven't seen the number -- whether it was one or two years -- referenced anywhere except from TymeNgw's tweet and your reference. Quote
