Curious if the people who think he will be back next year have been to a game in Assembly Hall this year?  There is more to it than wins and losses.  The program has no juice right now. I would hope that Dolson sees this with his own eyes and regardless of if IU makes a 68 field tournament they move on because it’s definitely in the best interest of the program.   When my wife and kids  are  pointing out that there is a different feel in the building you know the program is in a bad spot.   Curious if others that go frequently feel the same bad vibes that I felt last night

I would hope Dolson assesses the performance of both the team and coach at the conclusion of the season rather than a sect of the "fan" base who would rather cut off their noses to spite their face because they started dancing on Woodson's grave before Thanksgiving.

The idea making the tournament being the determining factor of Woody's job status shows how far we've fallen. Texas fired Shaka after earning a 3 seed in the NCAAT.

Texas didn't fire anyone, Shaka left on his own accord for greener pastures.

Ok, he was never "officially" fired.... but would've been if he didn't depart

He walked away from a $7mil buyout. He wasn't getting fired despite all the pleas from the fan base.

Are you sure there wasn't a settlement behind the scenes?

The crowds at AH are not a "sect."  They're very large sample sizes that accurately reflect the state of broader fanbase.  You may not like how the broader fanbase feels, but it is what it is.

I would guess Scott notices the atmosphere at AH is poor, but he's probably looking at concrete numbers like declining attendance and declining revenue/donations related to bball.

I went to the Indy Classic (TAMU-Purdue and Butler-Wisconsin) and couldn't fathom how LOUD the Purdoo crowd was from start to finish. We used to dwarf their crowd at the Crossroads Classic. And I can't believe how far away we are from that.

Obviously, the fanbase could be turned out quickly (see: Cignetti), but man. We are not close right now.

6 years 0 ncaa tourney wins.  Some coaches might see the writing on the wall and get out before they have a chance to get fired.  Very smart move by Smart to bail before he could get fired.   Losing as a 3 seed to Abilene Christian would have probably would have been the nail in the coffin.    Great move by him.   Just like good move by Enfield to leave USC for SMU this past cycle

Our friend AH can’t accept he has a minority opinion and others may have a valid POV lol

Upon doing so, absent a top tier B1G finish and a Sweet 16, or a mid-tier B1G finish and a Final Four, I am confident that this will be Woody's last year as the Indiana Coach.

And I hope you're right. Is it confirmed that this is Buckner's last year on the BOT?

Side note, my mother, former asst to a few IU presidents, attended multiple BOT meetings over the years, knew all of former T's personally, and is amazed at the current BOT and how things are right now.... That's about all I can say.

Edit - I see Buckner's current term is listed 2022-25

I believe Buckner’s term is up in June 2025, hasn’t officially said he is retiring or seeking another term yet IIRC
