Yeah Bigfoot ain’t going anywhere.

I'm more hopeful that Woody will decide he's had enough of the BS that comes with being a coach after this season and tells Dolson his magic number to ride off into the sunset more than anything else tbh

I really don’t see that happening, honestly. He doesn’t really have to put up with any of that stuff because he just doesn’t do it. He doesn’t recruit. He doesn’t show up to support other programs. He doesn’t really do the usual iubb radio shows. He just shows up on game day and then goes back to smoking/drinking with the fellas. All while clearing $4 million a year. Pretty sweet gig.

At least we have Coach Cig while we wait out this tenure.

Yes totally, especially RE: Cig. I just hold out hope he is a big enough egomaniac that he doesn't enjoy being the elephant in the room when it comes to IUBB. National pundits have been pretty brutal toward him lately especially and it's deserved. Maybe there's a part of his psyche that would view it as the ultimate F U to say "fine... you people think Mike Woodson is so bad, Mike Woodson will leave and you'll see how much worse it can get. I'll take my payments in weekly installments Scott."

We have seven new players on our ball club. We’re still trying to figure it out like every Big Ten team, every college basketball team in the country." — Indiana coach Mike Woodson. #iubb

Lol Woodson is not going anywhere. Same bs statement every year but it works the as boosters pony up.

Which are all the more reasons to move on from him. You simply can't allow the basketball coach of Indiana to blow off the media and be as invisible as he's been in the recruiting landscape. People can think what they want about Scott Dolson, but he's not going to let Mike Woodson stick around if Woodson's just going to continue to half-@$$ everything.

What bs he doesn't do any of it. He doesn't even do media anymore. He has a sweet gig and unless he gets throttled by the better big ten teams he is here until he says so.

Yes but I think he probably doesn't like having his name dragged through the mud when he can get paid to go away and do what he likes to do without getting scrutinized for not recruiting or doing XYZ... just trying to be hopeful since it's not as if we have an AD that's actually empowered to own coaching hiring/firing decisions.

He’s said that!  Maybe we should start believing him

He doesn't really have it that bad
Yeah we are critical on message boards but the local media kisses his behind. They never ask him any hard questions. Plus he's surrounded by yes men anyway. I doubt heceven knows he isn't popular.

You're probably right but I still need to believe this is his last season for my own sanity

He beat three bottom half big ten teams at home so nothing special. Watching illinois throttle Penn state right now. Next Tuesday the level of play will have to be very high to best illinois. Like the highest of the season. Same with playing michigan

Yep,

Illinois will be tough. 3/4 of IU’s upcoming games are on the road with the home game being against the Illini.

If we sneak into the tournament the dialogue will be interesting. Will he be held up to the standard a lot of us wanted in the offseason (top seed, S16+, etc…) or will it revert to “he’s better than Archie…”?

Beard beats Calipari and his expensive roster AT Arkansas. I wish there wasn’t baggage because Beard is such a good coach. Or what I really wish was Bruce Pearl was 10 years younger. But then you got a young Dusty May out there. Maybe he can Clone Wolf/Goldin?

Beard would be a helluva hire and Dolson gets a flyer after his success with Coach Cig’s hire.

Nope.  In addition to irrelevant comparisons to Archie, there will be quite a bit of "he made the tournament three out of four years how can you fire him???"

Many will forget we have one of the most expensive rosters in college basketball.

Depressing.
