They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

If he stayed in the NBA as an assistant he was making maybe $1M/yr.  Instead he got $3-4M/yr, an extra $16-18M vs his dead NBA career.  This has always been the driving force behind his friends getting him to IU — getting him on the gravy train.

It’s some of the worst behavior I can imagine from a Chairman of the Board and a big donor.
Its really shady stuff. They dont care about iu. If they did he would never have been hired.

So much for fiscal responsibility... does the BoT not have a fiduciary responsibility to the University and the taxpayers of Indiana? Is this simple a case of bad management, or is it malfeasance and corruption? I'd love to see this investigated... and prosecution if any wrong-doing that is uncovered.

Yeesh, just goes to show you how bad Archie was

And Archie is STILL bad. Can't believe Archie was once one of the hottest young coaches. But as Dakich said, "everybody wins at Dayton."

Yea.  Hard to prove though.  The thing that sucks is the perpetrators are so insulated.

On top of that, Google says Buckner is a partner at Mack Financial Group, a wealth management company. If Mack Financial manages Woodson's money and Buckner gets a big cut because that's his client, wouldn't that be conflict of interest? Hopefully that's not the case.

IU:  "He gone."

"After much consideration, Head Coach Mike Woodson has decided to retire at the end of the season. The University thanks Mike and his family for their contributions to the program, and will immediately start conducting a search to find the future coach for Indiana Basketball."

Or something to that effect. Book it.

Three thoughts:

1.  first and foremost, hope for the safety of the police and any hostages.

2.  Could push a release from the AD back

3.  Could make the release come quickly when as a dump behind a very serious story

Okay - and 100% agree on point #1... but... what did you think about my joke? Not even a chuckle? Lol
