I don't remember any west coast recruits, the only times I remember the King going to see recruits regularly was IMG and Montverde in Florida.

Ballo, Rice, Kanaan?

Edit: Vegas and Arizona were the examples from the Doyle article that’s why I mentioned them. I don’t know if it’s actually true lol

Thanks!  It did work.  Everything spot on!  This whole thing spiraled out of control when he ignored Matta and fired Fife.  Woodson thought he was the smartest guy in the room and had all the answers.  Now I am not saying this would have worked even with Fife or Matta, but Woodson was never willing to give it a chance and now here we are.  Woodson is an idiot!

The best coaches (or CEO, or hamburger flippers, or whatever) surround themselves with smart people, change and adapt.  There was zero reason Woodson couldn't have come to IU, learned the college game, listened to guys like Matta and Fife, adapted his offense/defense schemes, and succeeded.  Except his stupid ego, which has him where he is at -- a failed coach and a ruined player legacy.

One accusation was new to me that I haven’t bothered to substantiate was that he only did recruiting trips to places with good golf. Vegas, Phoenix, etc.

Hilarious if true

I don’t think I’d say new per se, but essentially a confirmation of everything we’ve been saying for over a year. Doesn’t recruit high schoolers, high school coaches in the state don’t like him, made the retirement stuff difficult, used the job as social club instead of working, etc. etc. More or less confirmed all the worst assumptions we’ve made. Also basically credits TJD for all the success, limited though it was. It convinced me the IU media has been covering this up and known he wasn’t doing anything to make IU better. One accusation was new to me that I haven’t bothered to substantiate was that he only did recruiting trips to places with good golf. Vegas, Phoenix, etc.
But his a great guy. Lol.

Yep. And the legacies of two Hoosier basketball legends -- Mike Woodson and Quinn Buckner -- are now very much tarnished.

In a way, it's almost kinda sad.

As you all probably know I was a huge fan of Woodson and my handle was Woodson 1980.My all-time favorite Hoosier ss a player.Without bad luck would have probably hung a banner.

I didn't really know much about his personality but now that I do it's tarnished that and I really can't look at him the same way.

Great player but a bad coach and apparently not so great person.

I could have stomached Woodson more failing if he had put his heart and soul into this 100%. Instead he was very lazy and entitled. It really was waste of four years. At least archie gave it his all. He just wasnt good. This whole Woodson experiment was just sickening. It can't ever happen again.

If our guys aren't going to try harder than they are right now why are we letting this clown finish the season?

Well, you know, he was a good player 40 years ago and we'd look mean if he was shown the door for being a crappy coach. Optics.
