They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

Let’s say we lose tomorrow and we are 4-3…. The next two we either barely scrap by or even lose 1…. Would Dolson pull the plug?

No chance woody is fired before end of season in my mind.

I have never been this staunch CMW guy. What I have been is a guy that disagrees with the disrespectful/snarky/hateful rhetoric that this thread seems to encourage.

I have said from the beginning that people can criticize, but don’t have to disparage. I am getting closer to agreeing that it’s time for a change, but I won’t be that guy who thinks it’s okay to kick a coach when he’s down.

I hope Dolsen can find someone better. Someone this fan base can get behind 100% But I won’t be the pitchfork guy calling for Woodson’s neck.

Fair to think what you will but it has been Woody that has been an entitled, lazy narcissist that is unwilling to learn/change and we are all paying the price.

at least he gets to rake in MILLIONS which is absurd for what he brings to the table. It’s highway robbery

can’t emphasize how appreciative i am of this team and CMW. so glad i don’t have to waste any more time watching them or worrying about it this season. i love this program but they don’t deserve my fanhood currently. i won’t let it happen

It's really hard for me to imagine that CMW and the players on this team enjoy getting their butts kicked. I never liked it when I played competitively. Pride has to be a factor at some point. This program needs a change in leadership as soon as possible. Maybe something can be salvaged from this collection of talent. I don't see that happening under the current coaching staff.

See I think this situation could get uglier than Archie and Crean…. I think if this mess goes South even slightly more this will be ugly. I think we are hunkering down for the hurricane getting ready to hit this program and praying it somehow misses.  We lose tomorrow…. Next home game will be a mess from attendance to booing

I think he has $4.5 million, I think that’s what he makes, lifting him up and the disrespectful/sharky/hateful/defensivenss/egotistical/entitlement rhetoric has come from him. His shows a severe lack of leadership and professionalism skills!

I get it.

Just don’t choose to participate in it.

$$$ is relative to the position. Maybe he hasn’t “earned “ it. But that’s on the university for choosing to pay him. I’m not gonna lambast him for what he’s getting paid.

I don’t think anyone here knows what goes on behind the scenes. Is smoking a cigar what it’s been made out to be? Or is it a visual taken out of context. Is he lazy? Or did he not value what some of these recruits were about? Maybe, like has been reported about Mullins, the kid/parents were not people Woodson wanted as part of the program. Not sure anyone here knows, but the easy way is to assume that the worst is the fact.

Like I said, the results on the floor need to improve immediately. All that matters

Oh I agree about it getting uglier, etc etc. But I don’t see him being fired. Whether it’s Dolson not have the cojones or not being able to because of important money people, I just don’t see it.

Should it happen? 100% should have happened 7 months ago. But once everyone signed on for year 4, I think he gets all of year 4

Spoken like a "true" fan.  SMH.  Woodson gets what he gives.

There really isn't anyone on this staff who could step in an make a real improvement.  I would hate for Cheaney or Hulls to try because they probably aren't the long term answer given their lack of head coaching experience.  So unless there is someone hanging around with nothing else to do who could take over, I think we are stuck.

Best case scenario, IMO, is they get home from The Bahamas, sit down with Woodson, and he "decides" to retire at the end of the season.  Maybe the players rally and put up a respectable season.  At least then there is some level of certainty and gives Dolson plenty of time to find the next guy.

What seems to be your problem with my statement?

Is being civil not a thing anymore?

Is being an internet tough guy the way to go these days?

SMH

My issue is Woodson is an a$$hole.  Treats us fans like crap.  By all accounts, he treats other university parties like crap.  We don't have to sit around and take it like "true" fans.  We can call him out.  I haven't seen anyone not being civil.  Just talking the truth.

But now you're trying to tap dance around your Woodson support saying you're not a CMW guy.  "Getting closer" to a time for a change -- LOL.   Just call it like it is  -- he is a bad coach by any measure.  The $6 million dollar plan to buy a bunch of players looks like it's a failure and a failure of epic proportions.  Come on, it's ok.  Jump in the pool, the water is warm.

No way he makes it to January. The optics and negative publicity are just too horrendous for the program, and generally pretty knowledgeable fan base, to weather.

In the social media age, everyone knows we hired the best mercenaries possible, and have top three NCAA NIL. The one constant the past 4 years has been ‘0-0’. (Those are glasses looking for the inevitable hump to get over) And that’s exactly what EVEREYONE will be talking about from here until the end of March. IU fails w/one of the highest paid rosters. Team schematics completely outdated. Fans booing and are worst enemies of their program. Recruiting will die worse than it already has, fan apathy will crank up to levels never seen. We’ve delved in here before, but not this bad…and not after the coach middle fingered a big portion of the fan base who was justifiably frustrated with his performance. It will be a  VERY dangerous place to go.

I know it’s off brand for IU to make mid-season moves, but at this point it becomes a major business risk management decision. (It should have been viewed as such last Spring FFS, but we know how that went.) At this point, the risk of keeping him presents FAR greater potential damage to the program, short and longer term, than any potential reward. Either that, or our athletic department, board and overall administration is completely inept.

Get ready for Interim Coach Cheaney!

How have you personally been treated like crap?

Were you publicly embarrassed?

Did you lose out on something?
Were your feelings hurt?

What exactly are you “taking “?

If a few comments on Senior Night last year were a problem for you, I’d suggest that you grow a pair. Pretty sure you weren’t personally affected by anything that was said.

Not tap dancing around a thing. LOL. Just not gonna jump on the bandwagon of being a jerk about the situation

Some of the players kind of play like they don't give a sh*t.  It really is an NBA in the 3rd game of a 4 game cross country road trip type of attitude.

Woodson's problems run deeper than X's and O's, we have a culture problem and frankly I think it is a problem that carries over from prior coaching staffs.

Stew lot of guys on this board had their own Mullins guy who was connected to the family including me. The consensus not getting Mullins was all Woody.

Well, I drove through a hurricane last year to watch IU play like a 3rd grade girls team and lose to Rutgers. Then Woody said he doesn’t owe fans an explanation in the post game presser lol. He’ll just hit us up for cash. We should stop giving it to IU athletics until he is gone.

Mike Woodson may be a cool guy to hang out with but he is not a great ambassador for the university and terrible basketball coach.
