Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

If he isn't fired this season then iu is officially not serious about basketball. That is my thinking. I believe he will be. It's going to get ugly imo. Look at the schedule! If he don't turn this around it will be the worst iu basketball season I can remember without counting the bare cupboard crean rebuild years. We got our ***** kicked today!

Screw the buyout. Fire him for cause.  Either fraud in representing that he could coach.  Or theft for cashing is checks without doing chit.  Make him sue. :)

I don't disagree, but it's not gonna happen. Woodson just needs to face the reality that he's in over his head and needs to just go away... too stubborn, and his ego is too big for that... but no matter how much it's warranted, it will never happen. IU has, once again, screwed itself over... putting Buckner in charge of the BOT and putting a neutered puppet in the AD's office...

Say IU wins 2 or less games the remainder of the season…. I mean it could be the realm of possibility…. Any chance Woodson would get fired? Crean won a big ten title got to the s16  the year before and missed the ncaa tourney but was above .500… got fired.., if Woodson only wins 2 more games IU will finish below 500. A Wednesday game in the big ten tourney and below 500 record should be in the conversation of a termination.

Again, it needs to happen, but it won't. Buckner has circled the wagons and sent the spin doctors out after Doyle and the media to back off...

For reference, the thread that originally started as Fire Archie Miller and transitioned to Archie Miller Fired reached 87 pages in a span of 2 months.

The Fire Tom Crean thread that transitioned to Tom Crean Fired reached a whopping 1,089 pages and stretched from Jan. 2014 to July 2017.

Woody's got a lot of ground to make up.

Challenge accepted...

The only positive I saw with Woodson when he was hired was his NBA connections and the fact that his players really love him. Kids love that crap. Get some of those guys to Bloomington and make sure they put it all over social media. That's where kids sit all day long and it's the world we're living in. Get Calipari talent here and we have a chance. Not a good one, but if he can't do it then, there's no excuse. Yes, I know he currently has talent. I just want to see him use his NBA relationships MUCH MORE. Or hire Crean again - his teams were at least fun until tourney time.

The real issue with Woodson is that he can't coach less than a team of 5 star players... and he cannot build a roster of supporting players to augment the 5 star players that is does manage to get... so we have a roster with zero quality P5/B1G caliber guards.

How often are the fans actually wrong?

We knew Crean was done. The pipeline had dried up.

Bombed in Georgia.

Archie never got it going.

Currently 10-12 at Rhode Island. Stood on the 3 point line during a game last week.

Woody had bad stretches each season and managed to rally in Jan/Feb…. But he had TJD last two seasons to make up for it.

If we let recruiting dry up (again) it’s going to be hard to turn the tide (again).

Might be giving too much credit here, but I'd like to think that even Buckner has to realize that when you've reached the point of asking former players to stop slamming the coach, that's basically an admission that you've got a dud on your hands. Former players aren't going to go on public airwaves and criticize the coach just for fun.

I think we stopped being serious about basketball after we kept Archie as long as we did. Zero chance he lasts four years at UK, UNC, Kansas or Duke. Programs that are serious about winning don't give a crap what others think of them. We're always worried that coaches will find us unattractive, players won't want to play here, people will think we aren't patient enough, etc.

We claim that nobody will want to come here so we just go out and hire worse guys. We might as well have just kept crean cause we proved we were not serious about upgrading after him. Crean was one year removed from a big ten title I find it hard to believe archie was the best we could do.

They'll let him retire to avoid the black eye of firing him so they don’t have to admit they f-ed up hiring a guy no one else wanted.

I’d argue recruiting has dried up.  Swung and missed on a number of portal guards last off season.  Only 1 signee for 24.

IDK.  The column was pretty weak.  I was underwhelmed. I expected a bit more.  I’m more than ready to let Woodson have it.
