Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

Anything has to be better than our current trajectory. I just want to be excited about watching IU basketball again. I want to be proud of the program again. I'm tired of seeing the Iowa States, Auburns and others excel while IU basketball will be fortunate to make the big ten tournament.

It is kind of crazy to me that Steve Alford was never the choice in the last 25 years

Actually, Steve Alford was the choice once.  What is kind of crazy is that he wasn't allowed to take the job.

Strawman argument.  Nobody said FAU and Dayton are the same.  And now saying that their current coach sucks as a reason they aren’t making tournaments after saying ‘everyone wins there’ is an incredible pretzel bending backtrack.

in their school history, they’ve won their conference regular season title exactly three times….and two of those were Archie.  And from 2014-2017 Dayton won 102 games — more than any four year stretch they ever have had.

People have been comparing Miller and May here as if they are the same person over and over and over.  Are you sure you know what “strawman argument” means?  And I said Grant sucked “at Alabama,” which is a fact.  He’s done a good job at Dayton.  So have a few other coaches who failed at P5.

I’ve watched probably half of drakes games. Ben’s a good coach. He’d have to change his offense though to win a title at this level. But he’s a smart guy as evidenced by all his wins so hopefully he would do that

What I saw live of him. I really liked dude coached the whole game. On the floor was pretty basketball to me. Seemed like with athletes it would work but it is slow.

Just curious but why are you so adamant

About what. I just stating that just because Archie was a failure here doesn't mean every mid major coach will be a failure.

As for Hurley in his 10th year at ASI he is 167-140 and made 3 tournaments. Also he is a lunatic on the sidelines

#2 describes Dusty . That’s why there is a fair amount of skepticism about him being the best candidate

It’s true that if the ONLY reason you hire a coach is one 3- or 4-game win streak in March, you’re not building a house on a solid foundation.

It’s simply not true that the reason(s) they May is a good candidate are that limited.

How many had Coach Cig on their bingo card to replace Tom Allen?  Next bball coach could be along the same line.  A true grinder who lives and breathes the sport and has a winning record at every stop.  Maybe someone who's only gotten a passing mention on btb among all the names that have been brought up.   IMO Dolson will get this hire right.

@Lebowski did.

Chris007... Where is that $10-$12 million coming from?.. boosters? B1G Conference payout?

I believe a booster, with one of his friends called other boosters who they know have money asking how much they would be willing to give to get a new coach.

If that is all it would — 10 million per year — then I would say he is coming to IU.  I don’t think money will be a hangup, just depends on what he wants to do.

I would imagine that Brad also respects his family’s opinion too. I mean, his son is a freshman playing bb Notre Dame and family all still in Indiana. It really couldn’t be a better situation to slide right into….

I agree with 4 of the 5 and possibly Bryce Drew possibly making the top 5.  Call me ignorant but who the heck is Darian DeVries.  I am being honest, I’ve never heard of him and I’ve never seen him mentioned on this board until you!

He was at Drake (2018-2024) and now at West Virginia...

And messed up Scott Drew in my original post...

Anthony Grant sucked at Alabama, so that’s not really relevant.  That being said, not only would they have made the tournament the COVID year, they probably would have been a #1 seed.  Dayton is a winning, well-established program.  Those who want to compare what a coach accomplished at Dayton to what a coach accomplished at Florida Atlantic, as if those two schools are in the same universe, just doesn’t make sense.

Good thing I never compared Archie Miller to Dusty May. But to discredit what Archie did at Dayton “because it’s Dayton” doesn’t make an ounce of sense either. Nobody has done what Archie did at Dayton in the 64 team era and nobody has really come close.

Why are you so argumentative and defensive about everything?  I was just talking about Bobby Hurley, which you answered but you started out argumentative something about Archie and his failures and a mid major being a failure.  Where were you going with that?

I emailed Dolson and told him I'd donate a stack of $2 bills my aunt kept giving me over the years for Christmas if it would help get Brad. SOB hasn't responded!

That's Dolson's ace in the hole during negotiations.

Pretty damn good record at Drake but his 1st year at W Virginia seems mediocre
