No one has offered a thoughtful reason to replace him now, which is why it makes little sense.

you haven't been following the thread have you? there's been so many.  i'll give you time to scroll back through and read the many reasons given.  I don't know who you really are....I'm beginning to really not care, but if you're going to continue say the same thing over and over when others have offered counter points, then come back with a "no one has offered a thoughtful reason". get out of here with that Kathy.

Things are fine!

seriously, with all the help these players get, why don't they get like a 2 hour seminar showing them social media do's/don'ts and teach them to ignore all that crap when they aren't winning.  Just spiraling and then feeding the addiction.  Program should have policies to help in this regard.

Because that is really the heart of the matter— Cig proved that all of the damaged process is irrelevant when the right guy is running the show.

Sorry—missed your agreed-upon conclusion amongst so much other splaining and splaining and splaining.

Agree, but that “process” wasn’t really any different in that involved several people within the University, rather than just one, as some believe should be the case.

That clear picture doesn’t include how Bob Knight was hired. To be fair, most of those same people, including the two principal players, were also responsible for hiring Lee Corso, something I’m sure you knew, given your background.

How Bob Knight was hired is not relevant. That was over 50 years ago. It's like saying how George Levis was hired is relevant to how Bob Knight was hired. Is how George Levis hired also relevant to this current situation? Are we using the transitive property for hiring processes that are a half century old?

I’ve followed it closely - No one has made a compelling argument, just emotionally driven ones.

Firing Woodson is neither a long term or beneficial decision. It's getting the cancer out as soon as possible so the healing can begin.

The season is over, for all practical purposes.

Hell has frozen over. I finally agree with steuben... gonna go take a shower now... I feel so dirty.

We’ve reached the “players are tweeting at Dakich” point of the season. Luke Goode should probably just stay away from social media..

What did Dakich post? He said his son told him to delete it

That guidance is regularly given to our players.

Ah, now it doesn’t matter, even though the fundamentals of it are as relevant today as they were 50+ years ago.

Bob Knight would not succeed at Indiana University as the basketball coach in 2025. Am I talking to an old man yelling at the moon?

You’re making my point for me - this is all EMOTION. I get that, since I hate the losing, too. It’s just not, in my opinion, a great way to make decisions, though I realize many disagree.

What benefit to the program would exist by firing him now? How would that improve the program in the near term, which is the only real impact it would have. Would we be more competitive? Win more games? Serve the interests of the players?

I hear what you’re saying, Kathy, and I truly don’t want to come off as combative either. I just think it’s important to consider the fanbase in all of this too. Fans invest so much emotionally, financially, and in terms of time, and they deserve some sense of hope and direction for the future.

If Coach Woodson were to announce an early retirement, it could actually bring some relief—not just for fans, but for the players as well. It shifts the narrative away from the struggles of the season and toward rebuilding and optimism. I think it could ease the pressure on the players by creating an environment where they can play freely, knowing the expectations for the rest of the season are reset. For those considering their next steps, it’s an opportunity to focus on showcasing their abilities without the weight of the current situation hanging over them.

It’s not about disrespecting Coach Woodson, nor the players but about setting a new tone that benefits everyone involved—players, fans, and the program alike.

How about to demonstrate that these results are beyond unacceptable, to remove the toxicity that will surely be at home games here on out and maybe win games against good team? Or at least, not get blown out?

This isn't difficult to understand.

No, you’re talking to someone who sees you moving the goalposts. I get the visceral responses from you, so vent to your heart’s content. We’ll see what happens.
