Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

Yes….improper conditioning is the reason for our Stone Age offense. I think we attempted 3 threes in the entire 2nd half of the Gonzaga game while being down 20 points. In what world is Woodson living in? He is incapable of making any changes. He only knows how to play 1 style and it’s brutal.
I thought they bought him a good enough roster even he couldn't totally screw it up. But clearly I was wrong. Pound it in the paint lives on.

Mark Few:

Schematically they do a really interesting thing with their ball-screen coverage.   We got our guys to understand that.   We have guys like Ryan Nembhard (and others) who can attack that.

Nice coach speak  way to actually say the other coaching staff stinks.   lol.

Absolutely pathetic. Putrid effort from our guys and staff.

This jogged my memory...wasn't there a Big Ten player (Illinois, if I'm remembering right) that said our offense was the easiest to prepare for in the conference?

Yep. It’s just short of bohiem openly mocking crean, but “interesting “ is code for: we’re not sure what they think they were doing but it was ineffective.

Bohiem mocked a lot coaches that year. He had a top 5 KenPom defense

Woodson is honestly a worse coach than Archie Miller imho. Woodson gets millions of dollars and the transfer portal and he still trots this slop out.

Just when I think Woodson is better than Miller because of how abysmal Miller was, Woodson goes and gets completely humiliated like this tournament.

If they get run out of the gym tomorrow does he get himself ejected?

We’ll beat Sam Houston by a dozen points next week and they’ll scurry back out from wherever they’ve been hiding.

It could be after the next game. We'll be playing another 0-2 team so there's a chance they'll be bad enough for Woodson to get a win.

Guard play was supposed to be much improved. 15 combined points between 4 guards is not much improved. I really don't see us winning many games with Ballo being the leading scorer. What happened to this new and improved offense he was working on all summer???

No one's been arrested yet, that's progress.

Yeah I’m not sure what he is talking about. Crean complained about the lineups the whole first half. I don’t think conditioning makes us play bad every non conference big game.

Considering Crean's substitutions, if he's complaining then the lineups had to be completely bonkers; like Charlie Sheen on a week long binger bonkers.

Well I woke up today with plans to watch the game live; however, my Appendix had other things in mind.  I had to have emergency surgery today to remove my Appendix, and I had my brother tape the game.  Everyone told me it wasn’t worth watching but after getting released today and around 5:30, I came home and watched it and here is my assessment, which is my opinion.

1) We have too many players who have to have the ball I their hands to make plays and that is a problem because that leads to lack of ball movement.

2) Mgbako needs to quit passing up his first open shoot, which is usually a 3, by putting the ball on the floor which leads to a turnover or contested shot at the rim.

3) I still am not a fan of Reneau’s game.  He still looks like the blackhole he was last year and when he gets double teamed, it usually leads to him forcing a shot or turning the ball over.  He is not a playmaker but Woodson keeps putting him in those situations

4) Galloway still isn’t in game shape.  Seems a half step slow and is coming up short on shots, which means his legs aren’t there yet.

5) Our guard play on both sides of the ball was supposed to be a strength of this team and quicker guards have exploited us when we were on defense and I am not impressed with their offensive game so far either.

6) I like Landon Hatton because he plays hard and plays within himself.  Honestly I would like to see him get a few more minutes and take it away from Reneau, he plays harder than him IMO

7) Mike Woodson sucks as a coach and needs to be fired yesterday!  We need to have a coach that shows more energy and fire and he has none of that!

8) I actually seen Hill move slightly on the bench, I think Calbert was behind him moving his arms like Bernie!

9) With this coaching staff and the way this team plays, we will be lucky to finish in the top 5 in the B10.  We have a top 5 roster but we have the worst coach in the B10

That’s enough because we are still beating this dead horse.

Happy Thanksgiving, what is left of it!

I think you won out.  I’m still sick from watching that game live.   Get well Sir.

Not against that 2/3 zone with the length they had and the small guards IU had.   Terrible matchup for IU.  The absolute worst 4 seed to get in that bracket

You and I are never going to see eye to eye on this…lol.

For example you could argue a team with a smart good passing big man and 3 point shooters would be the worst matchup for Syracuse’s zone. Kind of like Michigan where Mcgary tore them apart (and Michigan had just as small guards and neither Michigan or Syracuse had a guard as athletic and good as oladipo). But crean had zeller try and drive through it instead of pass through it. Crean was just bad at X’s and O’s and wasn’t beating Bohiem anymore than he was Bo Ryan. Kind of like woodys flawed defense versus any good offense that can shoot 3s and get their pace…ironically the exact opposite of Creans problem.

But it’s all academic anyways. Nobody knows. I just feel there’s a reason Crean lost the games he did. Same with woody. Same with Davis. Which is why I wanted, or in woodys case actively want, them fired.

I agree Crean did a bad job against that zone but I just always point out that Cuse that year had top5 talent and they were every bit loaded as IU was that year.  I think when people just say Crean couldn’t coach against a 2/3 zone that’s only half the information.   That 2/3 zone was a top 5 defense that many good coaches struggled with.  Belien carved it up but not many did that year.   Marquette scored I think 39 points against that zone a game later.
