Fire Coach Woodson Thread

If you were looking for a performance to flip the script on Woodson coming back you got it.

Sure, we had a plan. But the script already started to flip when Penn State beat us easily in Bloomington.

Just because you make a good plan, doesn't mean that's what's gonna happen.

Nationwide cell carrier outages…about the only thing that could slow this thread down :)

On a related note, whatever it was last night was the last straw for some. I’ve gotten at least 3 texts this morning from friends. These are “non-message board” guys. Life long IU fans. All decent former HS or college players. A couple are either coaches or work at the HS level. I say all that because, I want to point out they aren’t reactionary type guys. The basic conclusion: This team is as bad as any of the other ones we’ve had, and the product on the floor is embarrassing to them. The most die-hard IU-guy of them—very similar to a lot of you guys—said he hasn’t watched since January. That surprised me.

If I’m a gambling man, I’d put money on Woody being back next year. But the natives are restless!

I’ve watched every game good or bad over the last 30 + years, and last night I almost went to bed at halftime, but of course didn’t.  I continued to watch but was very unenthused.  There is a silver lining in this, my blood pressure is down because I’m not screaming at the tv anymore, lol.  I am just watching listless

On my way to work, I didn't see Woodson's vehicle so I thought maybe he had been let go, then I remembered he was probably just out all night partying with Chris Tucker.

You should put some retirement/golf pamphlets on his windshield. Come to Boca Raton where there are no humps to get over and we have all the wine and cigars you can consume. Or something like that.

This looks like a post for the positivity thread? (-;

Does anyone even see a win left on the schedule?

Just when you think it couldn't get any worse, you look at the schedule and realize we may have already celebrated our last victory of the year.

Not really but miracles happen.  I see a possibility we could win 3 games, but very very unlikely

Since the Iowa game we have been down a least 15 points in each game (5 games). Hell, we blew a 15ish point lead in that game. We have seen a lot of bad IU basketball over the years, not sure we have seen it this bad. Especially considering the rest of the league is absolute dog poop.

This hump isn't getting smaller, it's getting much much bigger.

Scott Dolson lives and breathes IU basketball. He was a Michigan City Rogers player, Delray Brooks' roommate at IU, and a four year IUBB manager under RMK. Scott Dolson was sitting courtside last night, as he did for the Penn State game. He heard every boo and he took careful mental notes, even more than the average fan, of the level of disconnection.

And as much sh!t as he's taking, Quinn Buckner also lives and breathes IU basketball, and loves it deeply. Yes, he was likely one of the principal drivers that led to Woody being hired, but that doesn't mean he loves watching his friend get destroyed while derailing his beloved IU program.

If this goes on? There will be no chance at effective recruiting. Word travels among players and the only ones who will come are those looking for a paycheck. That's a sure-fire losing proposition. And that's an actuarial disaster for the athletic department's cash cow and supposed marquee program.

So I'll say it again: if we lose four or more of our last six (now three out of five)? I see it as likely (not guaranteed, but likely) that a change will be coming. It just. Makes. Sense.

Exactly. Even if people like Quinn would want him to get other year, right now it's so bad it would be too difficult for him to fix now even if he could. How to get guys to stay that given up. How to convince new players to come in ? Just by a paycheck? We are at a point of no return. Keeping him another year just continues the death spiral. The only change of a real rebuild is a new coach that knows what they are doing.

Yep, I’ll never root against the Hoosiers but every embarrassing thing makes it easier to build the coalition to do the necessary thing.

Setting Quinn’s connection aside there are lots of similarities to the tail end of the Tom Allen era here.

I’ve reached the point of wanting the season to be over with just to hurry up and see if there’s gonna be a change made. Heck, I was probably already there, but last night just can’t happen. I don’t want the next game to get here because I want to watch it, I want it to get here because it means it’s one more loss to add to hoping we get a different coach, and dangit that’s sad and ridiculous.

The algorithm to hire a basketball coach should never start with, "what is your affiliation with the school?".  Rather, it should be something more along the lines of, "Can you coach college basketball?".

This is more in response to Dakichs stupid f-ing tweet about firing Woodson and hiring Cheaney and Hulls.  A ridiculous idea that would only further compound the problems surrounding the program.

Well, it was the only way Dakich got to coach Indiana... they fired Sampson and put the mouth in charge... so maybe, naw, never mind.

Does anyone know how/why someone thought it a good idea to give Woodson a 1 million dollar raise after last season? What a dumb decision...............
